I'm in aw of all of you that have a 22r or re motor in 1st gen 4runners. They are hard as heck to find. So I found a 89 stock 4x4, manual with auto hubs V6. It has 240k miles on the od. Its daily driven. Heres my question, He is saying that it gets an average of 20mpg. Is this true???? I had a 94 ext cab 4x4 V6 and it didn't get no 20mpg. O yea he is asking 2800, is this a fair price. Body is good no dents, interior is clean, no rust, doesn't leak anyhting.

Sounds unusual to get mileage that good, but my brother has a 93 pickup with a 3.0 that does get 18-20 mpg. I don't know what gears he has or anything. Maybe just a freak of nature

Ive never had a V six, it was always a deal breaker for me. Ive read guys on here talking about that kind of mileage.

2800 is his bottom dollar, show up with 2400 cash see what he says. seems like normal mileage for this year. If its minty then just drive it till it quits then you have a awesome platform to start a build.
ask if he has had any work done to it. (head gasket, Clutch, Timing belt ect) I wish I had the 5speed in my 6 but its a auto still goes pretty good for having 250,xxx miles on it. if he did maintain it properly then I would say go for it. 20mpg is a bit of a stretch maybe 18tops I get 14 average on 31's with intake and exhaust and a heavy foot.

I've seen claims of that mileage as well. With a 5 speed and proper (ie: stock size) tires and tall gears like 4.10s or 4.30s, possible I suppose.
