Words of warning: Black interior w/ softex

It gets dirty really easily. Maybe this is common knowledge to most.

Dogs+dirt road= wiping it down every other day. I wish I could go back to tan or grey interior, ignorance is bliss.

Yea, black upholstery. It shows dirt.
Consider getting rugged cordura seat covers in your favorite brown and wash them once in a while. Throw a blanket down on the back seat for the dogs.

Some people like neoprene seat covers by Wet Okole but I don't know why anyone would want to sit on material that doesn't breathe? Comes in many colors.

I keep the dirt on the outside..I like my interior looking clean. I dont mind the scratches or dings on the panels but if there is dirt or mud I will clean it. Just because we have 4runner dont mean we dont have to appreciate and take care of our rides.

I think the beige SofTex looks great, not dated at all. Very classy-looking on my black SR5. But I digress...

In your case, I don't think your problem has anything to do with the color of your interior. I guarantee you my beige interior would look horrible if I drove multiple dirty dogs around every day. Seems sort of like the cost of doing business to me.

On the plus side, at least the SofTex cleans up easily.

I know black shows dust and dirt, nothing a good wipe down can't fix...but beige seems like it would show more marks, smudges, and other dog and kid related messes and spills easier?

My Softex is black/gray. I agree with you about keeping it clean, I'm a bit OCD about that. But hauling around dogs (which I do frequently) requires me to clean my interior regularly.

For every hour my dog is in my rig, its a half hour of cleaning. I've got some pretty good techniques for getting dog fur off of WO neoprene. My Dyson hand held beater bar mated to the 2" shop vac hose is very effective.

Dog doesn't ride in 4Runner. Still have fur in the car. However, our two year old does ride in the car, Kurgo covers are a magical thing. VERY water resistant. I say resistant because you still have the areas where seatbelts go through, and eventually liquid finds it's way down. If you're quick to dry it up, you're golden like grahams.

I just use water/damp microfiber washcloth.

I'm a litle leery about usng any particular chemical on it. Haven't had anything get on it that a damp microfiber towel didnt remove easily so far...

I had black Wet OKs in my last truck and the dirt didn't show as much, I think it 'soaked' into the texture of the neoprene or somesuch. I'll be ordering a set once the suspension/armor is paid for. Really digging the center console cover they make.

I love my black softex and I have light Golden Retrievers. I bought 5 yards of heavy camo nylon material for the backback seats and cargo area.
