Worn out suspension

I just bought a 2001 4Runner 4WD limited with 178K miles. I knew when I bought it it was time to upgrade the suspension. I'd like to lift it somewhat. Mostly drive on the road, but occasionally go off road. Any advice on what parts to buy to accomplish this?

For mostly on-road, occasional off-road, definetly go with Old Man Emu.
Better than new ride and handling and 3" of lift.
