Would you buy a used 5th Gen Rental?

When I was searching for my rig I noticed a few rental 4Runners but didn't realize it until looking at the carfax report. Just something to keep in mind, that it might not be obviously stated.
It would probably take a very thorough inspection and warranty for me to consider one though. I generally try to not abuse my rentals but have seen some serious abuse by others.
It surprised me that 4runners were even in rental fleets. About the only true SUV's in the fleets around here I've seen have been full size Suburbans. The rest are things like Dodge Journeys or other crossovers.

I do work for one of the largest rental companies out there, they so big smaller rental companies buy their cars to rent out. I see things you wouldn't believe. I see employees treat them like garbage. But they do keep up on the preventive maintaining, tires and oil changes.
I see 40k car sharing cars and they look awesome. Then I see 25k cars look like they beat to death. Nicer ones are usually the higher end cars like audi, Mercedes, Cadillac, surprisingly Honda crv, Ford focus and Nissan sentra hold up well. Luck of the draw and depends on how much the seller puts into remarketing the vehicle.
The rental company I work for, puts tons of money and research into getting to dollars for their cars. They would spend the money to transport a vehicle from the north east to Texas because that car would net them average 750 to 1000 more. They would fix or not fix certain things because of return on investment. Lots of criteria.
Would I buy one knowing all this? Yes, but I would only buy certain cars.
