Would you buy again?

Loving it more every day
Have a 2016 Limited T4R. 22k miles now. Plenty of room for the fishing and boat equipment. Tows the drift boat really nice. Pulls the boat and trailer off of any ramp, or launch spot mimicking as a ramp. Drives nicely too and from work. It's an old school SUV with a distinct personality and a soul. Mind you I don't like that tiny little LCD the size of a large i-phone or the very weird placement of the trailer light hook up (left side halfway from the hitch to the side of the car at an angle facing the rear corner.. I mean WTF is with that?). But.... loving everything else. Don't care it's a 5 speed, don't care it doesn't get more mileage (like it takes regular gas though), don't care it drives like a truck (it's a fing truck!). Don't care about all the crappy reviews. Looks great with road mud and bugs all over it. Could go on and on but just drained my Bourbon so.. later.

Just did two weeks ago and it is the best. I strayed away in 2012 when I traded in my 2009 for a Caddy.
I test drove everything. I can not stand the new gadgets and all the distractions that are available. It is amazing that a KIA and Hyundai are also in the 40K plus range....and of course, no back window down. The BEST feature. It's like having a convertible.

I might consider adding 4x4 next time instead of just doing 2 wheels, but the T4R has been a great addition.
From my perspective
Pros
Super awesome off road capability
Plenty room compare to wrangler as well as ride quality
Cons
Small trunk it's size.
Fuel economy (avg 17mpg on mine)
Only 5K pounds towing capacity
Need more engine power
5 Speed transmission even Tacoma is implemented 6 speed
No TSS system.
I wouldn't buy it again unless 4Runner gets more power,better fuel economy and reduce weight.
Toyota needs to consider to make hybrid version for 4Runner.
Wrangler is coming out hybrid version 2020 or earlier.
That's my honest answer.

Yes, and I did. Only regret from the ‘16 compared to this one was not spending the time to research and get what we eventually wanted to end up with, a good 4WD vehicle to replace my Avant Quattro for winter/snow trips. We ended up with a 2WD 4Runner and a 4WD Taco but realized the Taco was too small and the 2WD 4Runner in the snow was not the greatest.
We now have a single 4WD SR5 Prem and only went with that trim (instead of either TRD versions, wife absolutely loved Cavalry Blue) because of the 3rd row. We regularly carried nephews along with our kids so that was a must and a Limited was too gucci for my taste and plans.

Would not. Only because I've got two young kids (carseats) now. I'll be grabbing an Expedition or minivan (hahahahaa) or something of the like sometime in the future. God. A minivan. Ugh.
They aren't so bad now-a-days. Most have plenty of power and the only negative is the perceived image. The plug-in pacifica hybrid is intriguing and costs the same as the gas version after tax rebates, though its FCA... so who knows what quality is (or isn't) like.
