Would you buy again ??????????

At 5000 miles on my 4Runner, yes, I would buy another. Over the last 31 years, there has only been two or three where I did not own a Ford vehicle (E-150 10 years, F-150 4 years, Explorer 5 years, Windstar 8 years). They were all good vehicles but this time around, Ford didn't have anything to match the 4Runner.

A friend of mine said he knew that Ford Motor Company was in trouble when he heard I wasn't going to buy one this summer.

Wow. Toyota is even stealing some of Ford's most loyal customers, they must be in trouble.

The whole situation is kind of sad to me. I mean, there is no way Ford is actually going to go out of business, they are an automotive icon in this country. From the days of Henry Ford and the Model T, there is too much history there. Too many fleet sales and too many loyal-no-matter-what customers. And that Power Stroke, they're everywhere, what would industrial America do without it?

I don't know why they are in so much trouble. I mean, I know why they are bankrupt with the whole healthcare and retirement funding obligations, I guess this is what happens to a company that sells products in this competitive of a market after 100 years worth of employees and their familes.

I wonder this because I just received my brand new company truck. A 2007 F-150 XLT Extended Cab with the 4.6 V8. It really isn't a bad truck. Rides nice, its quiet, decent quality interior. The 4.6L is gutless with the 4 speed, but give it a chance with a 5 speed and I think it would be tolerable, not to mention the 5.4 triton. Other than that, whats the problem? Long term reliability? Resale? I know the F-150 is Ford's Golden Egg, but it doesn't seem to be doing them much good. Hopefully with the restructuring process going on at Ford and the realization that reliability is just as important as innovation they can get back into the game because, let's face it, I'm rooting for the home team as much as anyone...

That being said, I bet the '07 Tundy will be 10 times the truck as the Ford, so who knows??

If Toyota does sell a Diesel 4Runner in the USA that can tow as much or more than the V8 I will not have to think
very long or very hard about trading my V8.
 
I am also into the cool looking factor, its got to be good looking truck/suv.

I also do like vehicles ( like Thai ) that are capable in stock form. Thats why I bought the 4R. One of the few vehicles capable of off roading in stock form for a midsize suv. No Rubicon , but does ok by me.
 
I chose our '03 to tow a 4,000# trailer, and it does that with grace, perfect reliability and reasonable fuel economy.

I'd buy another in a second! Although, I'd add Navigation and the back-up camera.

Toyota is as good as it gets!!!!!
 
Prob. next year ill get the wife a slightly used Camry (new style) or a new Corolla. She currently has a '00 Mitt. Mirage, which i cant stand. It is paid off though and we havent had any trouble with it so i cant complain too much i guess.
 
Since the Ford Freestyle came out ( which is a cross over type car ) I've heard Ford is going back to the drawing board with the explorer to restyle and refigure it to be more of an off road vehicle.

I suppose to compete with the 4R , Jeep , H3 , FJ , Xterra , ect..... since they have nothing to compete in the mid size market like that. That will be interesting since I like Fords and with the exception of my last Tahoe 95% of all my trucks have been Fords and honestly have been goreat vehicles with no problems.

It would be a hard move back since so far I'm impressed with the 4R and Toyota and the philosiphy they have. I'm also lucky to have a great dealership to boot.

when my lease is up, its between buying out this truck or grabbing myself a new FJ. well see what happens, if i do get the FJ though, its gunna be TRD and all the off road toys :)
 
i'm planning on keeping my 4runner for a while but in case i get tempted to buy another toyota..hmmm i would most likely get a landcruiser or another 4runner.

They already tried "Quality is job #1" back about 20 years ago. Now their commericals are about "Bold Moves".
