The funny thing to me is that SO MANY people flying the Gadsen flag do NOT know what it stands for or its history and many assume it stands for libertarianism.

I assume many southerners have family roots dating back to confederate soldiers and that many be why they raise the flag. And it depends on what it means to you, I guess if you are from the south and have a pickup truck, then it may seem to suit you well, no different than a brit sporting the union jack on the roof of his mini.

My boss would argue, how can you fly the American flag on a Toyota? How do you all respond to that? This guy is hardcore conservative stuck in the 70's type. I just laugh at him but really i want to tell him to get bent.

Tell him Toyota probably makes more cares here in the United States than the "domestic" car manufactures. Tell him the US manufactures are nothing but sell outs.

I wouldn’t put any stickers on my 4Runner other that the state inspection ticker.

P.S. America is a continent not a country. It is a land mass, not a sovereign nation as the United States is.

here's my take on this, as if you guys care about my ramblings, lol,

the way i see it is regardless of how you feel about it and what your thoughts are on the flag don't matter, it is being displayed on your car with no chance of context, meaning your not going to get the chance to get out of your car and explain to passerby's what teh flag means to you, people are going to take it as what teh flag means to them, and sorry to say it's a negative thought to everyone else not from the south and even many from the south as well, i know you can't help what other people think but it's a fact of life, i hate to go here, and i know goodwins law will be thrown in my face, but i think this is valid,

the swastika is not a negative symbol either it is actually a good thing coming from eastern regions , much like the confederate flag, though it has been tied to some unfortunate events in human history the original meaning of it is harmless and is actually inspirational, but sorry dude, people f'd that up for you and it doesn't really mean that any more, what we're talking about here is social truth or social constructionism, meaning the whole world with the exception of your tribe has a different reality of what that flag means, and like it or not in this case majority rules, not saying you can't do whatever you want but saying you'll be viewed a certain way for doing those actions, it's like if i put a swastika on the back of truck to support Tibet, factually speaking that would be alright but i think just driving down the street with that on the back of my truck would be inviting trouble and things i don't want to deal with...basically the nazi's ruined the swastika and the racists ruined the confed flag, nothing you can do about it...

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying anything about you, it's more of a comment on the stupidity of people in general , and since they have a skewed idea of what that flags means you suffer for it, i would just avoid the situation all together, not worth the hassle and dirty looks imo.....

Yeah, that makes sense, and it's actually part of why I'm doing it. Maybe someone will come up to me and ask me why I have it. Then I can give them my legit reasons. If nobody flies the flag then there is no hope to change people's opinions. However there is hope to change opinions if it is flown and people ask questions. (Not sure if that makes sense to y'all)

I went ahead and ordered it anyway. I'm just tired of everyone being so politically correct. I'm sure I'll get a few looks, but who cares. Maybe people will give me credit for actually having the courage to stand up for what I believe in.

I also ordered an American Flag and the Gadsen flag. I'm planning on putting the American Flag on the rear window with the Confederate Flag and putting the Gadsen Flag on my windshield.


If I had both the American and Confederate Flags on the back, shouldn't the American Flag be on the left and the Confederate Flag on the right?

Possible I guess. But right now I only park in three places: apartment complex (all college aged kids who probably think like I do), home (safe neighborhood), school (more college kids).

well, here's an idea, you could always run a SC state flag from the past and avoid all of that negativity that comes from the racist saluting the confed flag. you get to have love for your state in the south, get to have something different, and if someone asks you you can give them a quick history lesson on all of the flags and just say i was going to run a confed flag but those white cracker headed wigger racists screwed it up for you, lol,

and to be honest some of the SC flags are cooler, the very first flag of SC was sweet and speaks for itself "liberty" is right on the flag.

There's a surf shop in Virginia Beach, VA that has their logo in the center of a confederate flag oval with the words, "Southern by the Grace of God" (like the album) underneath. I had one of these on the side window of my '99 Tacoma, but I doubt I'd ever put a regular confederate flag on my truck.

Is it safe to assume that you are either already married, have a girlfriend OR that you have no intention of EVER going out on a date with a non-white girl ?

I don't mean black necessary but it is a pretty big county and there are all kinds of smoking @ss hot ladies out there from asian girls to latinas. I assume that none of them (minorities) will ever date you if you have a confederate flag on your 4Runner (but I could be wrong).

We already have a "need more hot chicks thread" and I am sure there is a bit of color on that thread somewhere.


Edit: I do realize SC isn't exactly diversity central but when I lived there I rarely went out since I was busy in Z Navy so I can't say for sure. California on the other hand is pretty F'n diverse.
