Would you replace this?

2005 Sport 93000 miles, never wheeled.
Changing the oil the other day and inspecting a few points, found grease around the inboard boot on the drivers side CV axle. Checked closely with a mirror and light...boot is not split or cracked and the grease is only at the small end near the clamp, probably about a teaspoon or so if I was to scrape it off and measure it. No grinding or clicking that I can hear. I'm wondering how many of you would consider replacing the CV axle at this point? My local garage will do both driver and passenger sides for $313 and though it looks pretty easy and I considered doing it myself, I'd rather let him do it for that price. But the question is DOES IT REALLY NEED TO BE DONE AT ALL?

I'd just reclamp it as long as the boot is intact and there are no symptoms indicating the axle needs to be replaced. The OEM toyota axles are higher quality than any of the cheap aftermarket ones a shop will typically use. You're better off keeping it unless it has failed completely, which is unlikely with only 93k miles considering the boot sounds like it's fine and it's never been wheeled.

what he said... and if you do decide to replace them then I'd go with toyota or CVJ remans only and do it yourself.. pretty easy item actually... get a 22mm and 35mm socket and a rubber mallet and you should be good to go, lots of threads out there and good youtube video on the swap.
