Would you use E15 in your 4Runner?

Gas station near me is selling E15 now, for a good bit less than regular. Says on the pump it's for 2002 and newer vehicles. Not sure how they came up with that year, but ok. My 4Runner is a 2002, yay! But it's the same engine they were using since the mid 90's, so I'm confused. Any reason it would cause problems in a 3rd gen?

I'll give it a shot in my wife's Jeep since it's a '08, and it's just a Jeep so who cares. :lol:

Probably ok yet yields lower mpgs. If I had a choice I'd go for full gasoline or 10% at most. Luck and enjoy. :cowboy:

unless go premium where I live it is pretty much all 10% ethanol. could be wrong but can't imagine 5% does any damage that 10% wouldn't

I run super in my 4runner because that's the only way I can be ethanol free around here. And only two brands of super at that.

CRAPPY mileage on ethanol. It's worth the extra cost for super.

Are you completely sure? How about some graphs or numberz to support saud theory.

Yes. Everything on CO is e10. e15 will yield almost no difference in fuel mileage.

When I go turbo I will run e85.

It will get worse mileage but not much on e15. E85 is about 20-30% mileage loss.

I can't imagine going to the fuel station more than I do now. My opinion is that "old" vehicles weren't designed to use 10% ethanol, so I wouldn't want to use even more. I guess if your fuel rails haven't sprung a leak by now, 5% more won't hurt it significantly more or at all.

i have yet to see no ethanol gas here in Nj. All gas stations like wawa,exon, shell contain 10% here. I dont think it even matters if its regular or super.

I don't have receipts or anything but a couple of winters ago I was getting 350 kms/tank on mid grade (with ethanol) and when I switched to super I was getting 420. Funny thing is I used to get 420 on mid grade a few years ago. I don't know if they crank up the ethanol in the winter (when it started happening) or if they add some other additives in their "winter gas" that was causing the problem.

Interesting though, if nobody else is seeing decreased mileage on the regular perhaps I should re-visit.

In most states your stuck with E10.
Nothing you can do about it except distill off the alcohol yourself and then pour it back in.

Yeah that video was a joke. Eventually the ecm should advance timing on higher grade gasoline and you should get more power and mileage. Their is a good reason why us supercharged guys don't run regular gas. We're not fans of cracking the cylinder head.
