I rear ended someone today in the 4runner. I have a few questions for you guys. The airbags did deploy and the radiator support is now touching the radiator but not punctured. I know they will most likely total it due to the airbags being deployed. My question though is if it is totaled will i be able to swap out my aftermarket stuff and put back in my factory equipment. Such as my lift and different tires and rims.

If I were you, I'd have it towed to my house. (unless of course you still drove it.) Swap everything before the adjuster even looks at it.

Sucks to hear another one bit the dust. Any thought of buying it back from insurance?

You can take your stuff or tell the adjuster what you have and they will add it on to your payout. The payout will probably not be equal to what you paid for all the aftermarket stuff though

In my experience, if you don't get to it before the claims fella does, you're going to be hurting on those mods.

How fast were you going when you hit? Are you doing alright?

I was going about 20 and yeah we are good. So I'm pretty much screwed on the stuff. I have progressive. If I swap it before they see it I'm good

I actually came out on top when my Scion was totaled. Allstate gave me like 30% more than the parts were worth, and they gave me like 3k more than the car was worth to boot!

Dang. Sorry to hear, but glad to hear you're ok. If they tow it to a yard, tell them you forgot some personal stuff in it and you want to grab it. The guys at the yard are usually pretty laid back people and won't mind you getting some of your "stuff" back.

Craigslist, just buy a set of whatever will fit. Throw them on. What did you do with your old wheels and tires?

Exactly. My friend's 1st gen was stolen and trashed. No damage to the wheels and tires. We found a set on CL for like $75 and swapped them out.
