Driving the Pan-American Highway from top to bottom including one of the most remote borders in the world is "recreational off-roading" to you? If so I want to hang with you for a week on the trail

Ha, appreciate that. I've had traveler trots a few times but that situation was the rock bottom.

Look, I (and I'd say we) are fully aware the show can't/won't appease and/or entertain all viewers and some have come and stayed, others have come and gone. Many of my own friends and guys I travel a lot with outside of XO are not super into it and I'm cool with that. What we aim to do is provide an authentic view of our travel and our experiences. We film approx 1 week for every 20-25 minutes of episode so do realize there is so much more happening and I personally have zero control how that story is told, my job is to plan the route and get is from A to B.
I do regularly pass along the feedback I see on the many forums and FB groups I participate in, so know that feedback does get moved along and it has absolutely shaped our seasons imo. For example we were seeing a great deal of regular watchers/commenters asking for more local content as many viewed our international travel as unrealistic to their endeavors. This seasons Overlander series will feature far more US based content and trips.
For those that have watched it and found it outside their interest, thanks for trying. For those that tune in for each new episode, thank you for joining us. For those that have never caught a single episode, please give it a watch and see if you dig it.

I enjoy the show and watch just about every episode. Even though international travel is completely out of my reach at this moment, I do want to get there some day so I do enjoy those episodes as well. Right now I'm digging that new Tundra and the flatbed platform on it!
4WD Action all the way. It's pure entertainment. Plus, they're Australian which makes it all the more interesting. And you get to see trucks that we don't have like 79 Series LCs and GU Nissan Patrols.

Unfortunately, the internet brings more armchair critics than ever imagined. You have done some great work. Don't think for a second, that most of us would not jump at the opportunity to do any of the experiences you document in the series. Think of it this way... We all are bloody jealous. I will say that the Return to the MacKenzie was one of my favorites. I think I have watched about every episode, and I liked when it was a bit more wheeling and a little less traveling. Although, I live vicariously through the show since I probably won't ever internationally overland. I can appreciate the filming and editing, the cinematography is second to none for the content.
I do get a lot of laughs from the 4WD Action guys, they are a blast to watch.

That's the problem tho. XO seems to only be about some rich photog turning youtube into the rich people of instagram.
Then we give feedback saying something more low-key/organic would be awesome, and they respond by saying they hear us, then building a maxed-out Tundra, intro'ed with a wall of sponsors, and planning a "little weekend getaway" full of assault weapon shooting, massive offroaders, and talking about how the prep for said chill weekend adventure is the same as tackling an expedition to the arctic.
I'd rather watch Ronny Dahl, Andrew St Pierre White, Jason, and Lifestyle Overland instead. They are probably adding viewers faster, with 1% of XO's budget. So kudos to them.

Make no mistake that XO is a business, it employees a half dozen or more full-time and an equal amount of part-time. Add our travel costs and the budget is no slouch. You can't fund that kind of mechanism with grass-roots style travel, Toyota wouldn't bite and many other sponsors that run this mechanism wouldn't bite either. The business is as viable as ever, you can interpret that however you like. Make no mistake the group is still full of people that are passionate about travel and are simply humbled that Clay and Rachelle have found a way to make a business of it so that we can continue traveling and hopefully inspiring others. Given the interactions I'm fortunate to have with many of our viewers on a regular basis, I know it's happening... is it 100%? Of course not but we will keep trying.
Watch what makes you comfortable, don't waste your time watching something that doesn't.

Hardly a broken record. And I’ve provided professional feedback.
However if the tone of every response is going to just be you guys being defensive then it’s pretty clear the only comments that matter are glowing praise.
Kurt I think you’re the smartest of the bunch and nothing but respect for you. You’re right I don’t care much for the show and it’s totally lost what I originally liked about it. I’ve said as much. But as a professional I respond to criticism on a daily basis and get better as a result.
I wish you guys the best. I just feel a lot has been lost along the way.

will there actually be trips? so far it's just been expensive toys
i understand they need this big budget stuff to keep sponsors happy, but why not also do quick edit vlog style stuff or some short trips like the original North America series videos that they started with to supplement the big trips?

Pretty sure episode 1 of Overlander had things like Army trucks, new snowmobiles, guns and other expensive toys. Not sure that's what he was talking about?
I've watched all the episodes and enjoy what you guys are doing. I do agree with Lawdart about things getting lost or missed opps but I still watch the shows when I'm traveling or have nothing else to do. Just like I watch any other YouTube shows. I say keep doing what you're doing and the views will come.
If I were to take everything I liked from each YouTube overland series and make one big epic overlander series it would still get hated by a lot of people.
There is so much content out there and I enjoy being able to pick and choose what I want to watch.
The current trend seems like making fun of anything overland and XO is the cool thing to do. Keep making your videos and we will keep watching either for insporation, jealousy, hate, love, or boredom. People are watching.

Finally figured out what to do with the YouTube thingy on my TV so watched the entire South America series. I didn’t think it was possible but I actually learned absolutely nothing useful in the event I would ever make a similar trip – which in itself is an amazing feat. I was also left wondering how much faster the trip would have been had they not spent soooo much time setting up for the visual shots, which were brilliantly done.
The metaphysical pronouncements on the Zen nature of the experience were annoying at the start but ended up to being quite amusing when all was said and done. But at least they had the women do the cooking and cleaning so not all was lost.
I have added the channel to my list and I do look forward to watching some other episodes. But I do have a soft spot for over the top branding by people driving vastly over-equipped vehicles while taking themselves waaaay too seriously.
