Wrap Sides?

Some of you may remember my thread about having my TE for less than 24 hours before it was totaled. Picking up my new truck this week.

My question is, has anyone put the 3M wrap down the sides of the vehicle? It always seems that being offroad means getting the sides scraped by bushes along the way. I wondered if the wrap would help.

if your going to not wrap a panel on the truck i would suggest just the roof or just wrap the entire truck, unless you want a multipanel look

if you do a clear wrap like 3m bra kind of stuff then just the sides wouldnt look bad

3M paint protect

i have the 3m paint protect on my front bumper and hood; i can confirm that this stuff works for scratches, but its not gonna save you from dings.

I was at a gas station filling up and the person behind me finished before me and decided to go around me. He was towing a trailer and didn't make a wide enough turn and scraped the corner of my bumper. :wtf: I had my 4runner for 3 weeks less than 1000 miles. There were scuffs i couldn't buff out and thought for sure it went through the 3m clear since it seem rough and deep. Out of curiosity, I peeled the 3m off and paint was like brand new.. not a scratch.

Theres a thread on herw where a guy plastipdipped his entire 4runner. Best part is its inexpensive and you can redo it whenever by just peeling it off. Only thing is limited color options and its time consuming. But it might be more cost effective and he has photos of his after offroading. Definitely got some scrapes but it didnt break thru the dip. Dents and dings are obviously another story but at least the paint will be in tact.

Actually you can make any color you want, mix and experiment. Dipyourcar.com has additives you can mix into your dip to give it different colors or finishes, or you can mix existing colors to something you'd like. I'm currently working on something special to go over my satin black. I think you're talking about my thread lol.

To the OP, I wouldn't use a wrap if you plan on doing some heavy off roading. I've been told that it tends to peel.
