so far i have had zero problems with this setup. :driving:

I would have just put a toggle switch in-between the low gear selector sensor on the transfer case. no relay no fuss.

Disconnect the circuit and the ADD won't enven know that it is out of HI gear.

that way would probably work also.. its basically the same, just your way uses the factory relay...maybe easier

im not sure about what other sensors and stuff would also be in the system. its worth a try tho

My way is using the Aisin Hub locks. :gun6:

How often do you drive in 2wd lo? I have the ability, I have done it once but that was it. Never did it again.

I'm gonna try Singtoe's method this weekend.

I want it so I can throw a lunchbox up front.

you still will WANT manual hubs as your front driveshaft will still be moving ALL the time

if i get manual hubs im going to weld mine up.... i had a lunchbox in the front of my 93 4runner and it acted the same as if it was full spool.... it seemed as if there was allways tenshion on the driveshaft causing it to lock up all the time. when hubs were locked and in 4x4 i couldnt turn AT ALL.... never did add mod tho:redbrick:

I was thinking the switch connected to an actuator, somehow allowing the hubs not to spin, as if they were manual hubs, but with a switch inside.

I'll be converting to manuel hubs in the next few weeks anyways.

I'll still be attempting this mod this weekend.

Posi-Lok for Jeep and GM front actuators. Someone probably makes this for Toyota, it replaces the thermal linear actuator with a cable and pull handle mounted in the cab.

The switch that is by itself is the 4x4 switch. I am not not sure if the manual trannys have it.

To test the circuit. Unplug the connector to this switch and try putting it in lo. The add should not engage.

If it works, just wire in a switch on one of the leads to this circuit and you are good to go.

If you guys do some searching, there is an easy as pie way to get rid of the ADD stuff.

I did it on mine.

I have a transfer case out of a 96 Taco, and manual hubs out of I think a 98.

Other than the ADD mod, which is extremely easy to do, it's ALL bolt in, and I haven't had any problems out of it. The only problem I've had is that my shifter isn't working right because of the BudBuild clocking ring I put in it.

If you want, I can explain how to do the ADD mod..

***EDIT***: I DON'T mean searching on here. I meant in junk yards and for the parts. Should've clarified that part. :P

You need the Spindles, the hubs, and the CV's for a manual hub conversion. Correct?

Yep. There are a bunch of threads on T4R about the step by step conversion.
Manual hub'd Taco's didn't usually have ABS so you have to move parts to the new spindles to keep the ABS.

Technically, you can just get the guts of the hub and have them pressed into the 4Runner spindle. Is that going to be more of a PITA, yes, but you'll be able to keep the ABS and all that jazz, without having to drill a hole into the spindle.

As for the CV's, you do need them. The manunal CVs are different than the ADD ones, but only on the wheel end. The diff side is the same.

There are two reasons I switched to manual hubs. One, less stuff to go wront on the trail than with all the actuators and that sh!t with ADD.

Two, if you break a CV, you just need to cover the hole in the Diff and the hub. On the ADD system, you HAVE to run with a CV.

Or you could just get rid of the ABS, and wire the speedo to the gear thingy on the back of the transfer case. Something I still need to do....

Or just down load an app for your phone.....

Or use your GPS....
