here is a write up for replacing bulbs in a 2000 limited with climate control.
(dash bulbs to come)
might be a good one to sticky or move so other can reference it quickly.

For the update.
Late 1999 to 2000 Limited
Smaller bulbs that light the knobs are part number 81850-35050
These are a common size used in toyota products. The base plastic that holds the lamp should be dark green. Different colors are different voltage.
The larger bulbs that light the LCD are part number 81850-35040
I don't know what the future availability of the larger bulbs will be. All I can say that in my case. One came from a dealer in Washington state, And another is due in next week from a dealer in California.
If your dash is dim. I would get it taken care of sooner then later.

word of caution: the LED bulbs i got were directional. they only light up on way. some of them i put in backwards and had to take stuff apart once i learned that. be sure you test them before you put everything back together.

These are the tools you will need. 10mm socket and phillips screw driver

aprox 30-45 min for first time

Bulb Type

Did I miss it, I don't see the Bulb type for the Dash light LED Conversion, I just done the interior lights, and have been trying to find the Exact bulb type and best place to order LED for the instrument cluster...

Thanks for all the info and the pics... they really helped me out in the process of replacing all my bulbs. I was able to complete the whole center console lighting (shifter, ashtray, climate control, Rear Window, ECT, Rear defrost buttons). The Power Key ring gave me fits then I realized the set up is not for a 74 bulb, I may just opt for a factory replacement bulb from Toyota and will remove the colored "condom" from it to match the rest of the cool white bulbs I have installed.

A couple of follow up questions on the dashboard...
1) The background lighting bulbs... in your write up (#21, #22, #23) they are listed as #194. Is this accurate? I got these bulbs from SuperbrightLED (194 LED Bulb - 5 SMD LED Wide Angle Wedge Base) and they dont fit the original socket. I reached out the SuperBrightLED and provided a picture of the LED bulb vs the original and responded that the bulb I am trying to replace is a 74 type (and I wanted to confirm with you)

2) I am having a hell of a time trying to remove the old 74 bulbs in the dash from their twist-in sockets.... is there a trick to this that I am missing (... being a bit of a novice at this)? or did you buy the sockets as well as the new bulbs and installed them?

Also does anyone have a link to the correct bulbs I need for the ECT and rear window switch?
