Not sure what part of Nor Cal you're in, but if you're in the greater Bay Area, you're going to be hard pressed to find a pristine 3rd gen, under 150k miles, for $8k. They pop up on Craigslist every now and again, and there's a few dealers that spin then regularly. One in SLO but can't remember his name...
 
I am patient. I have owned plenty of vehicles that others would pay top dollar {too much}for and I have always been patient enough to find outstanding examples at great prices. But I thank you for the heads up. I am seeing what you are saying though.
