Hi guys,

I am looking to buy a 4th Gen 4X4 -- preferably a 2006 - 2009. I am located in Pittsburgh, PA, but am willing to travel anywhere within the lower 48 for the right truck and price.

Absolute must:
  • 4X4
  • Non-smoker
  • No to VERY minimal rust
  • Clean title
  • Great condition

Wants/preferences:
  • White or Nautical Blue
  • Maintenance records
  • <125,000 miles but would heavily prefer less

I have been looking locally and it seems people want excellent condition KBB value -- and sometimes over -- for their not excellent condition truck. I have cash, so I am trying to find a private party deal. I really don't want to end up paying dealership prices.

Would like to purchase before the end of November, but ready to buy now if the right one comes up.

I think no matter where you buy a 4runner (and most other Toyotas) You will most likely pay dearly to get a low mileage nice condition vehicle. They really hold their value. I have purchased numerous Toyotas over the last 20 years and no matter where I bought them, I paid towards the high end and sometimes over what the books said. You get what you pay for. Both me and my wife have 2006 4runners. When we bought them 1 and 3 years ago, they had 28k and 36k miles on them and they took us a year each to find them. Mine is listed on here above the kbb book value. Really Low mileage units seem to bring a premium that the books don't Reflect that. It's just a matter of finding someone that doesn't mind paying a little more for a really nice clean low mileage vehicle. I have it listed at 19k which leaves me some room to negotiate.

Hi,

I definitely agree with you. I am definitely willing to pay for quality if the truck is actually in excellent condition. I guess I was venting as I drove 2 hours today one way to see an "excellent condition' 4Runner that smelled like someone had literally thrown up all over it.

With that being said, do you have any pictures of the frame rust on your 4Runner? That is my main concern with buying a vehicle from around here. I will be keeping whatever I buy for a very long time. Thank you! :)
