WTB: 5th Gen 4Runner 4x4 wanted in Austin, TX ($25-27k)

Hello All,


I'm looking for a 5th Gen 4Runner 4x4 to travel the United states visiting all the national parks and scenic sites. Going to catch up with old friends from the military and family whom I haven't seen in decades. (Kind of an Odyssey really) Anyway, I need comfort on the highways (due to a broken back...Military vet) and I also need to be able to conquer some roads less traveled. I don't know if I need KDSS or not, but I definitely know I need ground clearance and good tires. I'm currently in Austin, Texas as a point of reference.

Needs: 4x4, 2010-2011 (price restraint), Leather, Sunroof, 60,000miles or less, power windows, etc...

Wants: Trail Edition, Good All-Terrain Tires and wheels, space between the chassis and earth, Dark color (black, Gun Metal, etc..), KDSS

I'm looking to spend $25,000, the absolute maximum I can spare is $27,000.

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance for your time and thoughts.

I am in the same boat (with a slightly higher budget) but have not had any luck. I have been looking for a while. I'll keep you in mind when I search, good luck.

I'm sure your set on a 5th gen, but the 4th gens are nice, reliable, and you could get one much cheaper. I have a 4th gen, 2003 v6, and recently did a cross country trip from Austin, to Virginia and back, with many stops in between. The extra $$ you could save, could go towards the trip or even upgrades/mods.

Hello gentlemen, I have a 4runner near exactly how you are describing, warranty and all. Looking to sell in the next couple days so the reserve on the auction is at $28,500 even though I have near $50K in it. Would like to get at least $29,500 but if noone will purchase at that price Ill take a bigger hit at $28k. Thanks!

Sounds like a great trip and would love to see the thread when you go on it.
In regards to searching an engine I like to use is searchtempest.com.

Edit: I also would maybe recomm a 4th gen. Although not AS big, but it with that budget you could get a smooth riding and capable vehicle. Also better mileage!
