I believe your referring to be bezel that is around the license plate with the lights and Badging, on the tailgate.
I have one from a '98 not sure the difference between the two but it's grey in color.

2002 is unique to 2002 only guys. 98 is not the same.

Only if it's chrome. I can't remember if the 2002 sport was painted or chrome. If painted, you can use 99-02 painted surrounds and just repaint to your color

I have the unpainted grey one from. 98, with the letters 4Runner on it. Interested?

See above. Unfortunately the 98 is narrower than the 99-02. He would need to repaint his gate where the 99-02 sat, since the marks/paint damage would be visible
