WTB: World's Nicest First Generation 4Runner

I am looking to buy the nicest first generation 4Runner I can find. The later in the model run the better -- 1989 is ideal. Looking for an SR5 that has not been chopped up -- the more stock it is the better. Won't consider any with rust, salvage title, red interior (no offense to those that love them), cut fenders, big lift kit, SAS, etc. I am not looking for a rock crawler, however nice it may be.

White or silver with grey interior get first look. Low mileage on the truck (regardless of mileage on a reworked or rebuilt engine) means quite a bit to me. Basically, I am looking for a well-preserved or correctly restored, original first generation.

I get it that I am looking for something rare, and I am willing to pay for it. If the world's nicest requires some minor refurbishing then so be it, but I am holding out for nicer than any I have seen thus far.

Good luck on finding all those criteria. My 1st gen is for sale in the classifieds right now. It doesnt meet all those criteria, but let me make a case for it.

Its an 88 Sr5, all stock except for the aftermarket stereo and aisin locking hubs. However I still have the original stereo. Exterior is red, interior is grey/blue, so a good neutral color. I agree the red interiors are really ugly. It has 205k miles, but with a rebuilt top end and clutch. It has the 3.0 6 cylinder, and the head gasket recall was done with the engine rebuild. With the updated head gasket I think the 6 cylinder is much better than the 4. The truck is honestly quick! 5 speed manual, 4x4, locking aisin hubs. Interior is very clean for a nearly 30 year old truck. Now, the exterior does have rust. But all those panels can be replaced easily for under 1000. Then you could get the exterior painted and have a fantastic 1st gen.

I know youre not interested in doing the restoration work. But hey, it would probably come out to the same price if not less than what you will pay for a 1st gen in the condition your looking for. Buy my truck! I need the money for med bills

1985Taylor1925: Thanks for the reply. Totally respect someone advocating for their truck. Points well taken, but I truly am looking for one as pristine as I can find. Good luck with the medical situation.
 
The dealer at the cars.com listing above sent me pictures. Nothing special there. Thanks for the heads up though.

Im a bit confused what you mean about it stopping at 86. Theres a medium metallic blue in 88 and 89. Also with it being a 3.0V6 It would have to be either an 88 or 89. I am fairly certain that this is a factory example as the door jambs etc are the same color and don't appear to have been painted over.
 
I may be confusing the light blue metallic color that I have seen, with the medium blue metallic that I have not. Point well taken if this is the medium blue metallic. Either way, I'm still holding out hope for a more pristine white, silver or gray.
 
Surely somewhere there is a well-preserved, late in the model run, first generation. Anyone?

I bought a 1988 brand new in that color. It was unusual at the time and I constantly got compliments on it. I think it's "medium blue metallic."

I was not looking for a new vehicle at the time but I saw it on the dealers lot and had to have it. It was the only one in stock. Mine was 22RE 5 speed. I would not touch a 6 cylinder.

04 sc V8 and offroadxplr: Thanks to both of you for the heads up. Both are very nice trucks. Just my luck that both are the blue color that is fairly far down on the list of colors for me. If nothing else, I think I am learning that people that like blue 4Runners take good care of their stuff. :)
 
The blue one in Oregon looks super nice and usually that area is pretty much rust free. (mine is from the same state) 8k is way overpriced? What is it worth then?
