WTF rear window thread

So Ive had my fair share of rear window fixes, but this one stumps the eff out of me. Here it goes.

The rear window in my 87, will go down and up with the key all day long as long as the engine is not running. The ignition can be "on" with the engine off, but once its started it wont move, the volt meter doesnt even dip.

Well what about the switch?

The switch works great as long as the window isnt all the way up. Once it reaches the top it stops working. I can lower it an inch with the key, then it will work again, but once its at the top, its like its dead.

I can put it half way up, then back down etc, but once its all the way up...it wont budge.

It started monday... and had been bugging the crap out of me. Any thoughts?

Thanks guys... :sobbing:

Edit: So with the engine running the key acts just like the switch. It will go up and down as long as its not starting from all the way up... hmmmm

i had the same thing on my 87 once it was the wiper switch that would let it drop a inch and not go anymore, and the window relay switch that takes the longer bolt has a power and a ACC so i would look at replacing that.

I would bypass all of that and wire in a toggle switch straight from a 12v power source to the window motor.

Its not that it only drops an inch, I need to drop is some (an inch was just an example) so then the switch will work. And the longer bolt is in place, and I know it's working because when I take the bolt out, it won't move at all. And my rear wiper has never even been hooked up. It's had the top on and off a dozen times this summer with no issues

It seems that my issue lies when the window is all the way up...

Thanks for the replies guys... I'll have some time to tinker with it tomorrow
