Sometimes I actually put other parts of my life ahead of posting videos on the forum. Sean uploaded the latest video yesterday morning when I was almost out the door for a mountain bike ride in the Santa Cruz mountains. I delayed leaving to get the video live on our channel and then I got the hell out the door. But don't you worry, the video will be added to the forum this morning.

nice job on that vid, watched it yesterday.
the winch is also on my list but I think I want the remote control one. I have had the plug it in style with manual clutch engagement. having to slog back into the mud hole to get things hooked up was always a pain.

That's a good point. I actually bought Sean a ComeUp winch that has a remote control feature to it. Oh well, I guess I'll be doing some extra slogging.

You have to slog into the mud to get the winch line anyway. I have a wireless remote on my rig but that doesn't mean the winch line hooks itself up for me. lol
If you want wireless you've got a few options. The first is Warns wireless remote. It's about 120 bucks and is true plug and play.
The other is an aftermarket wireless remote. They run less then 20 bucks. They require you to open the control box and wire it yourself. I've been using a cheap aftermarket one for a while without issues.

Totally get it. Hopefully I didn't come off as being a jerk. It was meant light-heartedly.
Seriously though, I wanted to add a few things to your post for other users. I've got a wiring diagram made up for incab controls and relocating the control box elsewhere to avoid cutting up the grill. :beer:

Just go wireless. You'll need the switch space the in cab controls will take up if you continue the build. Wireless takes up no valuable space. Trust me on this. Plus it's cheap and really easy.

Yes, I try to get out at least once a week. When I was racing, I'd ride 6-7 days a week. I'll be going on a 1 month road trip soon and I'll be riding the majority of the days.
It's really weird for me to blow off bicycling to wrench in my garage making videos with Sean but I'm having a good time. Cycling was pretty much my life for the last 30 years. I raced mountain bikes, raced cyclocross and managed 5 teams. I guess I was ready for a new challenge. I'll always be an avid cyclist with it being my favorite form of cardiovascular exercise.
You should make the effort to get back out. Nothing beats the endorphin rush from the physical effort followed by the adrenaline rush of a sweet downhill. Then, follow that up with some good grub and some tasty beers afterward. Makes for a perfect way to spend a day.

I've attached what I've wired up along with a picture of it in cab (lowest row with blank to the left). Keep in mind, I'm using a SmittyBilt XRC so the wire coloring is most likely different. Seeing that video showed a similar three stud configuraion I'm confidant that they'll relate really easy.
I may get a wireless controller in the future as a third method of controlling the winch. Usually though, I'm in the cab winching, so it's nice to have these controls without having to find a controller or fiddle with plugging a controller in.
