WTH is the deal with all these wheel #'s ???

OK..this lady replies to my want ad and says she has some wheels for sale. Doesn't know much about the wheels except they are 16" and off her sons 2007 Taco....which has been sold.

I asked her to look for a number on the back of the wheels. She reads me a number off the back that says: T16x7 JD0TCmC 806KJ16.

Now, I assume the T16x7 means they are 16"x 7" wheels off a Toyota.

So far, so good. At least I know they will probably fit my tires. What I was wondering about is the rest of the numbers. JDOTCMC ? Any clues?

How about the last part of the number: 806KJ16 ? Does this sound like a Toyota # or an after market # to you guys?

I'm just trying to figure it all out before I make the drive out there to
look at them. Would any of those numbers tell me what the back space was? I'm trying to replace my chrome over aluminum Center Line wheels on my 2000 SR5 4R that died from all the salt corrosion.

Does anyone know what those numbers mean and if I'm on the right track here with those wheels? She said they are in great shape, so I figured I couldn't go wrong at 100. for the set....unless of course the back spacing is way off or they won't clear my brake calipers.

DOT should = Meets Dept of Transportation specs.
The "J" probably probably looks like "JWL", which is in front of the DOT letters. Which means that it also meets Japans specs.
CMC?? It might be CNC? CNC stands for Computer Numerically Controlled, which is a machine computer interpreting code to control a power tool which fabricates by selectively removing material.

Doesn't sound like a Toyota part number. Sounds more like a wheel serial number? Maybe a manufacturer serial number? All 4 have the same one?

CFRANCK is dead on. CMC might = Canadian certified. Everything points to factory Tacoma wheels which will fit our trucks. Any Toyota 6 lug factory rim will work on our trucks, unless you have the larger brakes then you need to stay 16" or larger. Some of the rims change backspacing a little but so far have found that they have all worked based on the 100's of build threads I have read with different factory rims.

I wish I knew how to tell what the back spacing was without having to drive out to look, but oh well, that's how it goes sometimes. I can't ask an old lady to try and measure the back space for me. I could tell she was getting irritated when I just asked her to measure the rim dia. LOL

All these f'n numbers that always have to be in some f'n code like it's a big f'n spy game and they don't want anyone to figure out what kind of f'n wheel they have. What a f'n crock of f'n $hit!

Just tell us in plain f'n English what in the hell kind of wheel it is.....OK?

I did search some more and found out that "JWL" marking means (Japan Light Wheel Alloy). It is a compilation of standards defined by the Japanese Government to ensure the vehicle's safety for aluminum road wheels. Every wheel put to market must be tested to meet JWL standards before a wheel can be put out to market in Japan.

And the only thing I come up with about CMC is that it is a type of Aluminum?? 6061-t6. I can't find anymore info on it.
