I think they need to give away like 50 sets. Until these actually get out there and get some use I don't think too many folks are buying them. However, make a few YouTube videos of them getting abused and surviving then some positive Amazon reviews then I'd bet they'll take off. Being 1/3 the price of MaxTrax definitely makes them interesting to me....but they're still an unknown quantity.

I'd put these in the category of the "Harbor Freight" of traction mats. They're plenty cheap but are they gonna break the first use?? Maybe, maybe not... That said, I have plenty of HF stuff in the garage that's going strong years later....
 
I'd like to use these in my next trip and I'd be happy to review them and show them in action

Yeah, I've been eyeballing those Maxsa ones too. Definitely a lot of good reviews. Only thing that gripes me is they don't appear to nest and no storage/carry case. That's not a show stopper but would be nice to have....
 
a buddy in our wheeling group here has the maxsas... it's actually how i found the X-Tractions on Amazon. I was going to buy the maxsas but the price was cheaper for X-Traction and they came with the carry bag. i have bought both versions of the X-Tractions and I can tell you that the $139 version is very stout. I'd compare it to the TREDs in terms of beefiness. The $109 version of the XTractions feel much more durable than the maxsas, very similar in design though. The carry bag has proven it's worth already at the beach, prevented getting a bunch of sand in the back of my 4Runner (and we all know the pain the carpets are to vacuum). Just my .02.
 
I just got the x-bull recovery tracks for my nephew and I. They seem pretty sturdy and I got them for $100/set. Came with a carrying case too which is nice.
Tough to find many reviews, but the ones I have found (couple from Aus) all have good things to say.

The X-Bull $109 looks -exactly- like the X-Traction $139 on Amazon.

Can anyone confirm whether the X-Bull and/or X-Traction recovery boards stack together firmly? Will they snap together on top of each other to keep them from sliding around or separating if I were to tie them together and attach to my roof rack with some webbing?
 
If you click the X-Bull link I posted above... the third picture down shows a top and bottom view side by side.

They certainly look to be a mirror image intended to interlock.

I can't say for sure, but it sure looks like it. I would be surprised if they did not.

They don't seem to go completely down but do seem to interlock somewhat.

Thanks. I had looked at the pictures but those can be deceiving. The MAXSA boards look like they'd snap together but the reviews say they don't. The video you linked is golden. I previously only found a video of an Aussie overemphasizing the cheap price and didn't really get into any real details. The video you attached shows more detail. Thanks!

They stack together and are pretty secure. If I stack them I cannot slide the top one at all, it doesn't "snap" together but it sticks.

anyone ever try these in snow?? Being a new englander these would be great to have for nasty deep snow, not that i ever got stuck in snow with this rig, but for others alongside the road :horn:
