XD LED Low beams came in today

True, but I was tired and didn't want to wait for the sun to set fully. Additionally, the comparison is against sylvania ZXE bulbs which are already significantly brighter than stock.

I'm not fully sold on these bulbs yet. I think Xenondepot should've put both diodes on the same side. There's no point in lighting the back side of the projector. Secondly. I think these bulbs are more tuned to the "pre refresh" version. It doesn't appear they considered the dust covers for the headlight housings. The covers needs to stay because the projectors aren't watertight.

Kind of having the same thoughts. I'm not very worried about the heat sink, but the fact that roughly half the light isn't doing anything is useless. Starting to think it would've been best for me to buy 4300k hids and yellow fog light bulbs.

Exactly, where I admit they're bright, the design seems a bit shortsighted and they could perform a lot better. [MENTION=12905]XenonDepot[/MENTION] I have an idea to fix the diode issue, I'll have a design drafted on viacad this week. PM me please.

I totally agree with you, I'm considering returning them or selling them. Because of the same reasons.

HID costs more! Lol, but really it's because I wanted every light to be LED. I absolutely love the LED fogs though, they're perfect.

I am somewhat confused regarding the LEDs being on both sides and 1/2 not being useable. Isn't the projector silvered on the inside in order to reflect whatever light comes off the back of the light source? If not, it is not using all of the energy being emitted by a halogen or HID bulb either. I must admit to not having seen the inside of a projector unit but I would think it wise to direct as much light out the front as possible and this would involve some sort of reflecting surface inside to take advantage of the source. Somewhat like a folded parabolic antenna for radio waves being used to create a concentrated beam.

Thanks!! I been looking at them. When I'm ready to change up my lights I'll most likely go with the xenon depot h11 Philips xtreme ultinon led for fog lights and the xtreme HID with Philips 4300K bulb upgrade

As per your thoughts/questions:

(1) The heatsinks are designed to be kept inside the headlight housings. They will get warm, but not hot to the point where they will/can damage anything. These LED bulbs are not going to be the "brightest" LED bulbs in the market, but the intent was to provide a bulb that offers more light output then stock without having an fan or massive heatsink on the back (that can interfere). LED headlight technology is still relatively new (unlike HID), so i'm sure you will see improvements over time, as technology allows.

(2) HID vs LED: HID will definitely be brighter than HID:

The review sums it up pretty good:

Halogen H11
Pretty mediocre. We all knew that
Barely noticed the beam pattern compared to no headlights on in the parking garage

LEDs
Definitely brighter

Even beam spread along the ground
Better distance than Halogen, but not as good as HID
No crest at the top of the beam (parallel/inline to the projector) due to diodes only being on left and right of the LED bulb. This likely is the reason glare is kept to a minimum compared to the HID bulbs.
Closest of the 3 after-market bulbs to keeping stock beam pattern

HID 4300K Philips
Brightest of the bunch
Slight scatter and glare up above
Hotspots concentrated in parallel with projector
Great distance

HID 5000K
Not much dimmer than 4300K Philips
Slight scatter and glare up above

Not to bad mouth the LED, but if you're looking for crisp color, already have the projector housing in your 5th gen. I'd suggest personally the HID. The 35W kit is the same price as the 50W kit. The only thing you have to factor is a 1000 kelvin drop in the 50W system. So 6500 becomes 5500. Mine is so bright I can see the future, with good cutoff not to blind anyone. Just my .02. Not trying to steer anyone away from LED, but having seen both, I personally think HID is the way to go unless you are wanting to do LED all the way around.

You almost have me convinced, gonna give it a few more days. IMO you can't go wrong updating to the Phillips fog lights. They're awesome, and so far seem rock solid. Totally worth the price.

Just the bulb. Check out my other review. Plug and play (well, plug, zip-tie and play) but very simple install. All i recommend is upsizing the zip ties that come with the bulbs to secure the ballasts. Very simple.

Can you put the low beam Xenon depot H11 led's in the fog lamps? I don't think they are very bright for driving at night. Mine look really dim at night, my stock fog lamps look way brighter than the Xenon low beam led's? Thinking of getting HID's in the low beams, do you thing it will work?

Comparison shots should have been taken in the same place.
First with the OEM's then with LED replacements for accurate results....

The fogs are H16 on the newer models but they might fit. The XD are way brighter than the Philips ones though. So you run the risk of blinding everyone.

This means that they will be slightly brighter, but they burn significantly hotter and will burn out quicker -- and potentially damage your headlight housings to boot.

You are absolutely correct with that. There are some bargain basement companies out there to make a buck, and dont know what they are doing. I steered myself clear of some of the cheaper companies who put HID kits together, and just went with reputable. The 55W HID bulbs I got are awesome, and they actually aren't significantly hotter than the 35W from what I can tell.
