Xenon Depot 6500K Kit On Its Way!!

Hi,

The problem these days is that many vendors classify their kits by color temperature that really has nothing to do with what the color temperature of the bulb actually is. True 6000k is still bright white with a slight bluish/purplish tinge.

We have had many customers in the past that switch buy replacement kits/components for their previous kit that wend out on them only to find that our 6k kit looks different than the 6k kit that they had previously installed.

I think the best pictures to show the color of HIDs is auctually a picture of the road instead of the headlight.

you'll love your new lights... i got the best of both worlds 4300K and 6000K.. love the color on my 6K's but love the output on my 4300K's

6500k is to purple? Wow you all don't know much about HID's, let me clear it up. I had 8000k on my 02 4Runner for two weeks and according to what you all are saying, it should be much more purpleish than 6500k, since it is purple to you all. But 8k was like pure white, I bought them because in the pictures they looked blue, but I was highly dissapointed when they turned out to be really white, and not blue. I could see great with them, don't get me wrong, it just wasn't the color I was looking for.

The 8k was great for night driving so I'd have to say 6500k is even better! 4300k would be the best of course, but hell there's hardly much of a difference between 6500 and 4300. If you want see some ricey headlights look at mine, pure blue, and I can see great! :bigok:

Agree with Fo Sheezy 100%...except for the part about being disappointed. I originally bought a 6k kit and thought it was just a bit yellow at certain angles. I then bought some 8k bulbs and like Fo Sheezy says, the 8k bulbs are really white with a nice slight tint of blue/ice. For me, the 8k is just what I want, they are still very bright, look super white on the road, and have that slight blue ice tint when looking at the lights head on.

So can any of you HID guys explain to me why my Apexcone kit that I ordered (4300K) is a white - purple? You can actually watch it start up against a white wall and go through the color spectrum. Can't' stand it. I'm looking for pure white light here, and wasn't what I expected at all. No on the road it's a whitish sort of light, but not anything like a 4300K would be.

Hi Mike. Here I explain exactly why HID kits bulbs are so different between each other. Stick with german quality OEM like Phillips and 4300K will be exactly 4300K
It seems like there is a lot of HID "experts" here who never installed anything but kit bulbs LOL, they will swear that 8000K is pure white, makes me smile everytime

The color change at start up is completely normal. my understanding is that it's the gas in the bulbs heating up to normal operating temperature (not an "HID" guy, just a fan )

I would love to respond however I will just sound biased. All I wall say is that HID kits (bulbs/ballasts) are not made equally.

Since Phillips only comes in D2S I would get adapter

and enjoy the best bulb money can buy - Phillips 85122+ they are exactly what they claim to be 4300K and resist colorshifting (get bluish). Unmatched bulbs when it comes to performance.

I would happily use a Phillips D2S bulb if I could, I've got like 8 of them in my garage, but it'll never work in an H11 housing. Now if our projectors were H7, there are adaptors to make them work. I know most will say to retrofit, but I'm just not into spending the money for someone to retro for me. If I can get results from a P'n'P kit that I'm looking for, I'll be happy with that.

Hi paraordnance,

We do sell rebased Philips bulbs. Our bulbs will come with AMP connectors:

If the connectors on your ballasts are the same then they will mate up to our bulbs. I will say that you should consider whether you want to pair expensive bulbs with questionable ballasts. The last thing you want is the ballast damaging the bulb...
