I also just order the Phillips 4300K HID and back up LEDS from XenonDepot. Should be installing them this weekend, looking forward to see how much brighter they are than stock. I just picked up my Trail Premium a few weeks ago and drove a BMW before that. The Xenon on the BMW were awesome, now I feel like I can't see anything at night.

My next project is to work on the tail end. Plan on using switchbacks in the rear turn sig. The amber will work as normal with the turn sig. And the whites will augment the backup lights......

Hey Angelo, I did not install them yet as I was side tracked by an unexpected emergency surgery. I did install the led DRL and rear reverse led. I did not use the canbus. Reverse lights are sweet, and the DRL are nice as well. Soon as I get back on my feet, I'll install and take pics.

Angelo, I installed the low beams today. I'm not impressed. Go with the HIDS.
I did not install the canbus. Im not sure if that would make them brighter.
I feel the low beams aren't bright enough. But then again, I live in the city which has a lot of light pollution. I like my DRL better. Hopes this helps.

I was especially interested in hearing impressions of the LED lows because I think I'm actually the only guy on here who identified my HID kit as TOO bright for oncoming drivers.

I do a lot of night time / pre-dawn rural country road driving, and those 4300k HIDs coming at me from my truck (when I viewed them from my wife's minivan) were overload, especially because there isn't really any other light on the road at all. Long story short, I went to the H9 / H11 conversion and its definitely an improvement but I was wondering if maybe the LEDs would be a decent middle ground, better than my H9 but not as blinding as the HIDs.

If I may ask, was your disappointment with the LEDs to do with any black / dead / dark spots that you identified in the beam pattern or was it just that they weren't bright enough for you?

Hi Ang, thanks. I felt they were not bright enough. The only thing I can recommend is installing the H11 led and give it a shot. I myself prefer the hids as they are brighter. I think even Steve from XD recommended the hids as well. If you feel the hids are too bright then install the H11 LEDs. Good luck.

I don't want to hijack the thread but I am picking up a 4runner this week and want improve the headlights but have never done an HID upgrade before. If I order this kit" H11 Xenon Conversion | XenonDepot Xtreme H11 HID Kit do I need anything else? I am only looking to do the low beams for now.

If you are looking for the best possible light output, I would suggest going with a 4300k HID kit, as higher color temperatures (K) offer more light but less light output.

Thanks! So if I order the h11 HID Kit XTREME HID in 4300K I am good to go and won't need to add anything else to it to make it work? DO I need to add "with CANbus?" Sorry for being unsure, lighting is new to me.

Question, I see on the site you can choose a 4300K bulb or a 4300K Phillips bulb for an additional $45. What is the different between the two? Performance, longevity, color?
