Xenon Depot LED Lighting

Completely new to the 4runner world, with a Trail on the way that should be here within two weeks!!!

In lurking around, this seems to be a very worthwhile upgrade to do, but I have a few quick questions prior to placing my order.

1. This kit seems to provide everything that is needed to do the low beam HID conversion, is that correct? A few of the other threads discuss the replacement of the projectors etc., so I just want to confirm.

2. There seem to be some choosing 4300K, and others choosing 5000K. I wouldn't think that there is much of a difference in visibility (from the driver) between the two, but is there? Will the 4300K still give the super white with a hint of bluish tint?

3. When wired correctly, I'm assuming that the stock headlight switch will work just the same, is that fair to say?

4. On a 2016 Trail Premium, is the CANbus needed?

5. It seems that some are going with LED's for high beams. Is this also just a plug/play with a new bulb that can be purchased from XD? If anyone can provide a link, it would be greatly appreciated.

So I took some time this afternoon, and installed my [MENTION=12905]XenonDepot[/MENTION] Xtreme HID kit. The kit works great, and was super easy to install, big thanks to [MENTION=129593]MTN4RNR[/MENTION] for the detailed write-up. I am however, looking for a cleaner way to manage the excess wire length. I currently just zip tied everything to the factory wiring harness, I'm guessing some wire loom will do the trick, any photos or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You are basically just replacing the factory headlight bulbs with HID bulbs and ballasts.
The kit is plug and play.
The "Auto headlight" feature is just what turns the headlights on/off and has nothing to do with the HID upgrade.

If you can figure out how to pump gas into the gas tank... you should be able to install this kit. :nod:

As I mentioned in an earlier reply... these bulbs should have been in the 4runner when it left the factory.
The night time visibility improvement is remarkable and worth every penny.

Installed Xtreme HID kit with 4300K Philips bulbs in my 2015 SR5P late last week using MTN4RNR's writeup as a template (great install guide). I also partially removed radiator cover to access points to secure (read: zip-tie) harnesses. Perfect blueprint for a super-clean install. Would link to thread but my Ipad browser crashed every time I tried.

IMO the 5th Gen 4Runner should have come off the line with these lights hands down. This was my first HID experience since I previously only upgraded the halogen bulbs in my XTerra and 4th Gen 4Runner. That said these Xenon Depot lights are a true upgrade from stock and so far they are nothing short of awesome.

Yep, I installed mine a few weeks ago and I LOVE them. 4300k Phillips bulbs look great. I'm a bit concerned about the bulbs being aimed right now so I don't blind the people in front of me but I haven't been flashed yet in any way so that's good (or bad depending on the gender and attractiveness of the flasher...).

(1) Thank you so much to all of you for taking the time to post feedback, respond to each others questions, and making this an awesome community! We sponsor a lot of forums, and I can honestly say that this board/community in particular is different -- in a good way.

(2) There are a lot of questions/comments here so I apologize if I miss anything...

- The H11 HID kit you referenced is correct, and you would not need to order the CANBUS upgrade when upgrading the low beams on your vehicle.

- 4300k vs 5000k - The difference is minimal. 4300k bulbs are rated at a little more lumens, but the real difference is the color. 4300k will appear to be a little warmer, whereas the 5000k bulbs will have a "crisper" color to them. 4300k in my opinion best resembles OEM HID.

- The ballasts used in our Xtreme HID kit are low-draw, which means that you can safely power them directly from the OEM headlight wiring and do not need to install the included relay harness. Either way (whether you use the relay harness or not) the lights will function like stock.

- High beam: Your vehicle uses a 9005 bulb for the high beams, which means that you would need to get a 9005 replacement bulb/kit. This is the 9005 LED headlight kit that we sell for this application (you would need to select the DRL option). Just be aware that your LEDs are either going to be on of off -- they will not operate at lower intensity in DRL mode.

Thanks for the answers to the questions. I actually ordered the referenced set on Monday, and then spoke with you yesterday morning to confirm I had the correct stuff, very informative call, thank you.

They should arrive tomorrow, then I just need the 4Runner to install them in. According to the dealership, it's two weeks out...:sad:

I too began replacing the lighting in my truck with LEDs but opted to go with the "warm white" instead to have more of a usable color of light. The white to me is too ricer. The warm white gave me pretty much the same color of the stock bulbs but brighter and I don't feel like I am under florescent lamps. I did go with the white on the rear license plate bulbs, the Phillips ones you mentioned above. They look great.

Also just swapped the rear amber turns with righter LEDs. Much brighter as well and I love the looks of all LED tails now (still working on the correct reverse lights though).

LEDs can definitely be a addicting thing to add all over!

I have the exterior LED swap, for now just did the inside and rear license plate with Precesion LED Cool white 8000K.

ordered online on good old amazon for less then direct website.

Not got to the puddle bulbs yet (Guess Toyota figured no one but the dealer would change them ), but so far they look good, no burn outs. they even have tech support and online install videos !

Package Contents: 2 Map LEDs, 1 Dome LED, 4 Courtesy Door LEDs, 2 Trunk LEDs, 2 Vanity Mirror LEDs, 2 Outside Puddle LEDs, 2 License Plate LEDs And the 3 Piece interior trim tool set.

The front map bulbs was frustrating to pull out - did not want to remove controls, so pliers with electrical tape and regular clear tape on the bulb after many failed attempts did the job !

Add another satisfied [MENTION=12905]XenonDepot[/MENTION] customer to the list. Since I'm trying to clone [MENTION=129593]MTN4RNR[/MENTION]'s truck, I did the HID kit and swapped the interior, license plate and puddle lights to the Phillips LEDs.

IDK about VA, but here in TX I've passed all my inspections on my 4th gen for the past 5 years using [MENTION=12905]XenonDepot[/MENTION] HIDs. I just installed a new kit on my 5th gen over the weekend.
