XenonDepot HID 4300 vs 6500 update

So, my OCD kicked in one evening when pulling into my garage as I decided the 4300K HID lights were too yellow for my taste when compared to my Philips LED fogs. If you recall i upgraded a while back and posted here:

So I got in touch with Steve at XenonDepot and as usual he was on point with the customer service. The lights arrived 3 days later and i had them installed in short order. The housings for them are slightly different than the 4300s, and i had to reset the rubber gasket but other than that it was a quick swap.

The color is exactly what I'm looking for, but the funny thing is they almost makes my LED fogs look stock! It's okay though since even though there's more blue to these bulbs its a cleaner look in my opinion despite the expected loss in "visible" light. Either way, I'm happy.

On a separate note, those of you swapping to LED turn indicators. You have to get load resistors for both the front and the back, not just the front. If you don't you get the dreaded hyperlinking... which to be honest looks kinda cool to me. Anyways, pics below. I'll upload more for those of you with any questions.

Looks good! I have 4300k and now thinking of getting 5000k... Think the 4300k is too yellowish compare to 5000k

Yeah, i considered those, but the fog lights I have are rated at 5300, I didnt want my low beams looking more yellow than my fogs. Completely aesthetic i know, but I'm much happier with the look.

On my 2015 Subaru Forester, I changed the fogs to the Mishimoto LED but it's more white than the stock HID. But it isn't so bad.. but on the T4R its like day and night color difference from 4300k and 5300k

I have 6000k in my Camaro, and while they look nice, I find the light to be lacking.

I find that I prefer the 4300k simply to get the additional useable light. A little more yellow? Sure. And since the 4R doesn't come with a HID projector, getting the light to appear bluish without going to 5000k+ is difficult.

Starting with 2014, the 4R does come with projectors. They just put a halogen bulb in there, the cheap ba$$tards! :shocked:

Still, 4300K is probably the best. XenonDepot has posted before that these will end up closer to 5K after a bit of use.

I am also considering installing some 4300K HID's in my 2015. On my 04 WRX i had a set of 4300k's and they looked 'blue' enough for me (although I didnt have projectors in the WRX). I've read that some feel the 4Runners projectors still put off a fuzzy cutoff line, however i'm confused on how a bulb can alter the cutoff line if a projector creates that line? Maybe I've mis-interpreted but anywhoo..sorry a bit off topic.

I have also heard the Ballasts that are in these recent bulb packages arent as good/reliable as they used to be, anyone heard if this is true? I had the cheap ebay sets in the WRX and lasted the 7 years i had the car no problem.

I'm also reading the HID vs. LED topic and trying to determine which bulb I'd like to use. I also am that guy who prefers a nice aesthetic look so Im certain Id like to match my low beams and fogs with the same temperature bulb.

Either way its my first vehicle with projectors and I'm pumped to get some new bulbs in there.

side question: forgive me for not finding my answer on here yet, but does installing and cutting a whole for the rubber gromit into the headlight cap void any manufacture warranties?

If you have any concern with "warranties", don't mod it, don't touch it. Keep it identical to the day you bought it. Sigh....please note my sarcasm and note the Magnuson-Moss act....

I have the 4300k philips bulbs and they are not nearly as yellow as the first pic
