Hi,
Are you saying that your headlights do not shut off after you turn the car off? That doesn't make any sense, as the ballasts would only remain on if they were receiving power from the OE wiring. Are you certain that you don't have some sort of headlight delay which you may of not noticed before?
Steve
I understand. I'm just saying that the only way that the HID lights would remain on would be if the ballasts were still getting power from the OEM wiring.
Steve
Gotcha - ya im not sure. I mean its not a huge deal, just noticed the difference and have to note to make sure I turn my lights off just in case.
Thanks! Also, did you lose the "auto-off" feature? What I mean by that is when I leave my lights on when I turn the car off, they will eventually turn off by themselves, but I noticed now they will not. (So I will have to always physically turn the lights off at the stem) Is this normal? Not a huge problems, but a small let-down.
Hi jkchu,
The auto-ON/OFF feature has nothing to do with the bulbs/ballasts; it's completely independent from the output, you're having a timer issue. There's a few things that could prevent the auto-off feature from working but the first thing I would do is RESET the main body ECU as it manages most of the other ecu's for lighting and interior accessories. BTW: I have HID headlights on my limited and no issues!
Cheers
How would one go about doing that? Pull unhooking the battery?
pearlvsn - My thoughts are that you can't group all halogen headlights into the same category. There is no doubt that some halogen headlights are terrible with an HID kit, but I believe that generalizing ALL halogen headlights into the same category is not a fair statement.
Steve
But you fail to answer the question about how you justify putting an hid bulb in a housing meant for a halogen bulb? Wouldn't it be best to replace the entire housing instead if you plan on going with hid?
This discussion has occurred many times before. You are adding nothing new and simply being a troll.
Wrong
I'm a potential new customer of his and I have questions.

"HID kits" in halogen-bulb headlamps or
fog/auxiliary lamps (any kit, any lamp, any vehicle no
matter whether it's a car, truck, motorcycle, etc.) do not
work safely or effectively, which is why they are illegal.

Same goes for "LED conversion" bulb kits. They are not a
legitimate, safe, effective, or legal product. No matter
whose name is on them or what the vendor claims, these are a
fraudulent scam. They are not capable of producing even a
fraction of the amount of light produced by the filament
bulb they supposedly replace, let alone producing it in the
right pattern for the lamp's optics to work.
