Reverse polarity

Just got my XD Xtreme H11 HID kit in 5k, had a quick question about reversed polarity.

First off I apologize for changing the subject a little. The second is, with this kit, does everyone need to swap the pins? I have read some older posts and some mentioned relay harnesses and since it just comes with bulb and ballasts, others have said they had to swap pins. Newer posts some said they weren't sure, others have said they did.

I saw the video on how to do so no issues with doing it, just wasn't sure if we were supposed to be doing for this kit.

Also, playing ignorant but swapping the pins is to accommodate the factory reversed polarity...is this correct? Thanks.

I had to change the pins on my harness. It's the connector that connects to the factory bulb harness. If you do need to change polarity, it takes but a couple minutes to do both sides.

The hardest part of the install is finding a location to mount your ballasts.

I got the Volt ones, and no relay harness is needed aswell, since they are low wattage.

I'm realizing there's a lot of "stuff". What did you do with all he excess from the relays?

[MENTION=124437]CoastieRon[/MENTION] It took me probably 20 minutes to install the kit, and probably 90 minutes to tuck and tie down everything. Essentially, I just used lots of electrical tape, zip ties, and double sided tape. No real tips or secrets.

You reverse the polarity of the female (don't have the kit in front of me but it may be a male connector) end of the bulb connector that connects to the factory headlight harness right?

Also did you unhook the negative of your battery before working?

Correct, its the connection you make inside the headlight housing. I flipped the plug coming out of the ballast to try out first as a sanity check. And yes, I unhooked the negative from the battery, in fact, I completely removed it to allow for a little more work room. I removed the bolts from the air injection pump on the passenger side for more room there as well.

The XD Xtreme ballast (Hyluxtek A288) has a low startup draw so relay's are not needed. I measured my ballasts startup draw to be 4.4A on a 12V PC power supply, this equates to 52.8 Watts. So even under startup, these ballasts draw less current than the stock 55W bulbs. While running, at 14.4V mine used 3.0A or 43.2 Watts. I see no real reason to not use the factory wiring with these ballasts.

I ended up using one of my relay kits for a light bar on an ATV, the other may end up being used when I decide on a light bar for the 4R.

I used the relays just because they were there. Can't hurt, right?

No reversing of polarity was needed with mine.

These are soooo much better than stock. It's not even a contest. (Xtreme HID, 5,000K)

I used double sided tape to mount the ballasts and relays. Everything else is zip tied.

Use a 1" paddle bit to make the hole in the cover. Takes about 30 seconds each.

Went to dealership so they can check my electrical issue..dealership said my HID cause these light to turn on (ABS, air bag, seat belt, clock off, and alarm wont work) no CEL and still drivable.. Did this eve happened to you guys?

Never had any electrical issues with mine, even when I was messing around with the relays.

Did you try unhooking the negative on your battery and letting it sit for a few minutes?

The lights turned on even before the HID install. But they keep insisting the HID kit was causing the glitch...i put everything back to stock and just waiting

Happend around 300 miles then it wnt away then after around 700 miles it went back on..

Check your battery also, it might be a defective battery from factory
