Your low beams are 9006, as well as your fogs. Your high beams are 9005.

Only the 2006-09 uses H11 for the low beams. The rest are the same from 2003-09 for the high beams and fogs.

Thanks for the info Uneek. I am ordering 3000K fogs, and will ponder the idea of installing 4300K low beams. Does it even make any sense on non-projectors? I am not willing to replace the housings for the "not so pretty" led version, as I feel it wont agree with the look.

I read an earlier post about putting in a wiring harness so the bulb does not flicker when ac kicks on does this harness come with the kits. If not where would I find the harness on your site.

Hi,

Congratulations and welcome to the board =)

Your vehicle uses an H11 bulb for the low beams and a 9006 bulb for the fog lights meaning that you would need to get an h11 HID kit and a 9006 HID kit respectively.

Steve, how about the wiring harness, I do not see it available on your website but I did read about switching it with the a new one on this thread as to not let the lights flicker when more power is drawn. Edit: Sorry steve I just found my answer on your website, just had to read a little further.

2003-09:
Fogs: 9006. High beams: 9005.

2003-05 low beams: 9006.

2006-09 low beams: H11.

The harness helps protect your OEM wiring from damage through the use of a relay and direct hookup to the battery. HIDs draw more than 55w during initial fire up, but when on only consume 35w.

The Xtreme Digital HID kits that you are selling now are not the same kits that you used to sell, are they? For example, the ballasts look thicker than the ballasts that 4RunnerRon had in his install pics:

Hi,

The ballasts used in the older kits were Philips ballasts. We phased out those ballasts approximately 3 years ago as we found that the Philips ballasts were not holding up as well as our Xtreme ballasts. Philips ballasts are great however they are designed specifically for OEM HID applications. In OEM HID applications the ballasts are usually encased within the headlight where they are protected from water and moisture. In aftermarket HID applications you cannot mount the ballasts inside the headlight as your headlight is not designed for this. Philips ballasts have an internal seal however they are not water proof. Our Xtreme ballasts are specifically designed for aftermarket HID applications as they are are epoxy sealed and water tight.

Just received and installed the Xtreme HID 4300K H11 Kit today in my 2006 Sport Edition 4x4 V6. Love the quality of this kit, contains everything you need. Looks very OEM (bright white) with the stock projectors. The install took about 45 minutes total - I really wanted everything mounted and tied off tight.

Also installed the Silverstar Ultra 9005's for high beams and 9006 for the fogs to get a whiter look to match closer to the new HID's. The Silverstar Ultra's are still noticeably yellow compared to the HID's but MUCH better than stock.

After driving tonight, I noticed the HID's lit up the side ditches of the roads SUBSTANTIALLY more than the stock halogens. I consider this a safety feature living in Maine, where deer love to hang out on the sides of the roads.

Overall, well worth the $175 I paid - very fast shipping, excellent quality and great customer service.

What is the diffrence between Volt and Extreme in terms of quality and lighting? Do they look the same? ease of installation?

is it bad to keep on the headlamp auto on/off feature with the HIDs? I know sometimes when I'm under a bridge my lights will turn on then turn back off when the sunlight hits the sensor again. Would this decrease the life expectancy or burn out the bulb? And for those who dont have projector headlights, how does the lighting look? Does it have too much glare?

cornedbeef - The main difference between the 2 products are:

- The Xtreme kit comes with a relay harness to power the ballasts directly from the battery. The Volt kit does not come with this harness and so the ballasts get powered directly from the OEM harness.

- The Xtreme kit uses Japanese/German components whereas the Volt kit uses Taiwanese components.

V8Limited4wd - It's not ideal to have the lights turned on/off repeatedly however it doesn't sound like the lights are getting turned on/off/on/off continuously.

The Philips bulbs will be slightly brighter and more durable.

I am confused by the two posts above regarding Phillips components.
I understand that one post references ballasts and the other references bulbs but am I stuck with a lower quality ballast if I go one way (by way of purchasing the H11 4300k Xtreme Philips Xenon HID Conversion Kit at $264.99) and am stuck with a lower quality bulb if I go another way (by way of purchasing the H11 4300k Xtreme Xenon HID Conversion Kit at $199.99)? Please clarify.

Also, I understand that for my high beams I need 9005 and for fog lights I need 9006.
Please confirm that the proper product for these is the 9005 / HB3 4300k Xtreme Xenon HID Conversion Kit for the 9005 high beams and 9006 / HB4 3000k Xtreme Xenon HID Conversion Kit for the 9006 fog lights rather than simply purchasing replacement bulbs. If I replace all three lights (low beams, high beams and fogs) will there be issues with battery drain and/or installation of the required hardware?

Retrofit side effects

When this kit is installed on the 4Runner, does it cause any issues such as warning lights or anything due to 35watt draw vs. the OEM halogen 55watt?

Has anyone noticed any side effects?
