XenonDepot Xtreme HID Kit - help needed please

[GVL]

Installed an [MENTION=12905]XenonDepot[/MENTION] Xtreme HID Kit in my 2000 SR5 and everything went fine and both sides were working so I turned them off and mounted the ballasts with the 3M tape and tucked the extra wiring neatly away. I wanted to see how they looked on the road so jumped in and turned them back on but only the drivers side is now working.

I have triple checked all the connections and the servo that switches the high-low angle still works but no light from the bulb.

Questions:

Since there is still power to that side can I rule out a grounding issue?

Could a polarity issue still allow the servo to work but the keep the bulb from turning on? Also, since the drivers side works can we rule out a polarity issue all together?

If anyone has this kit working, did you have to reverse any wires on the kit for polarity?

Note: I tried swapping the bulbs, but didn't get light from either side so now I'm more frustrated. I put everything back to how I started and back to just the drivers side working again.

Any help appreciated, I'm pulling out the little hair I have left on this issue and not a happy camper with my HID Kit at this point. Thanks.

check your fuse.. with mine.. the fuse popped and both the lights won't turn on what so ever..

If it was a blown fuse wouldn't servo be dead as well?

Is there an onboard fuse I should be checking besides the fuses that are part of the kit? I though I read that a 30 amp fuse should be used (kit comes with a 15 and 4R has a 10 in the fuse box)

I tried to find a schematic of your lights at the website, but the pictures didn't load. Do you have something I could look at? I'm sure I could help you.
By the way polarity might be an issue with the ballast, but I'm not sure. Anyway we could trouble shoot this easily enough. Are you IN GV today?

Not sure if that helps or not, but this is all I have. It's frustrating because I think I have tried every wire configuration to see if it was a polarity issue but no luck.

I am up in GVL now and will be here until Tuesday around noon. I just got back from a nice hike hike with the dogs, but did go for a fun trail drive earlier.

Anything you can think of will be helpful, I'll be bringing the truck back down to my garage workshop in Fullerton on Tuesday.

Thanks for the quick response Steve, that says a lot about good customer service.

The thing that got me confused was swapping the bulb assembly to the other side and not getting light from either side. If you could give me a call between 12 & 1pm (PST) that would be great - I'm sure it's something simple but can't put my finger on it thus the frustration.... Tim.

Alright, got the issue resolved and the new HID Xtreme's are fantastic. A HUGE shout out to [MENTION=102597]IBallEngineer[/MENTION] who took time out his morning to come to my house and diagnose the problem for me - thank you very much. Also wanted to give some props to [MENTION=12905]XenonDepot[/MENTION] for contacting me immediately when he saw there was an issue and offered all the phone support I needed.

The problem was a bad grounding wire that looked but was not making contact - I may have yanked on it when I was trying to tuck all the wires away neatly. I really need to spend some time learning to use the voltmeter properly so I can dig into electrical issues a little deeper.

Anyway, all is good and I am happy - took it for a drive through the forest tonight to make sure they worked off-road haha. Together with the ditch lights my night vision is 100% better than my old OE headlights so many night cruises are in my future :thumb:

Thanks for the shout out Tim. I just wanted to say for those paying attention, the ground wire was broken at the crimp for the connector pin, not at the ground point. Not what most would expect, but as I'm fond of saying, KIT is a 4 letter word. Glad we solved it, looking forward to wheeling with you soon!
