XM antenna routing

I recently picked up an XM2Go unit and it comes with about a zillion accessories, including a car antenna. I tried simulating a dash mounting and an external mounting and it definetly works better mounted outside the vehicle. I was wondering if anyone has routed a wire to the outside of the vehicle (04/limited).

Its too cold out right now (-9c) to go have a good look so I am just looking for ideas at this point. I am hoping I can get it out of the vehicle by the back hatch, in the center of the roof.

I ran mine through the vehicle to the rear, then ran the wire behind the rear door gasket to the top of the opening. It is very easy to lift the edge of the door seal/gasket and run the wire all the way to the top. I mounted the antenna on the right rear just forward of the door opening. With the back spoiler and roof rack, you don't see it at all.

I also did it as Spinner describes. I have had it like that for almost a year and it works great with no wear on the antenna wire.

Yesterday I ordered the USA SPEC aux input. I cannot wait to rid myself of the FM modulator.

I ran the wire along the headliner and various window/door gaskets and back to the rear hatch. Out the rear hatch along the gasket and then out onto the roof. Big improvement in signal integrity and the basic wiring only took about 15 minutes.. woot!

Mine is also run along the head liner and comes out at the rear hatch on the roof. Short of the little black unit on the roof, you can not tell it is there inside or out. Curcuit City will install it for you for $60. i think.

So you got a Myfi, cool I totally love mine and you're right there is a billion way to use it with all the accessories that come eith with it.

Believe it or not I am considering ordering even more accessories

I want to get the home setup (patch antenna and stand) for the office so I can use it there. Also I have to get the USA aux in, sounds like the final piece for the truck install.
