I have a XM Radio antenna with a magnetic base that I need to install on my '08 SR5. My plan is to place it at the very back of the roof and run the wiring through the tailgate weatherstripping and down through the side panels in the cargo area and under the door jambs. Seems like a lot of work, so I wonder if any of you have found a better place.

I recently hooked up XM for a friend in her CRV.
I routed the antenna from the dash (underneath) to below the glove compartment, under the carpet along the side of the car with the other wires, across the edge of the spare-wheel well, up through rear-hatch door jam, and then through a small hole in the rubber. I taped the tiny antenna wire with some electrical tape to protect it where it ran through the door jam to the outside, so it wouldn't be prone to snapping.
Then I stuck the magnet to the top of the SUV on the very rear area, a few inches to the left of the right-side roof rack. Works great and reception is very good! And best of all, all that wiring is totally hidden.

Top center just in front of the rear door hinge line. I just installed XM into my '06 Limited - I have Toyota ".pdf" installation directions if you want.

Is it not possible to get an antenna from a dealership (which yes is more money) and drill a hole in the 4R so no wires are exposed. I do not have any issues with exposed wires, other than it doesn't look professional. I would think I am not the only one that would be willing to drill a hole in the roof.
Is this not possible? I have searched the internet for aftermarket parts to do this, but cannot find squat. However, we pass cars every day off the lot that have it setup that way.
I'd appreciate the advice anyway. Thanks in advance.

The tuckin' ain't that bad, those XM wires are small.... right along the headliner then down the B-Pillar pretty easy.....I was an advocate for years of just running it low on the dash under the windshield...but my latest install I wanted to maximize signal.
