Don’t want to hijack or cause an argument. I use to have all my vehicles with XM. dead spots and the advent of cheap pandora and several gigs of stored music on my phone all for around 36 a year has taken over and XM is a thing of the past for me. Heck if you don’t mind a 15 second commercial every 10-20 minutes it’s free. With all the talking now and self promotion on XM its about the same. YMMV

Good point. I do lose the sporting channels. It was nice to listen to ball games on long ass road trips. I was just thinking music. The XM sports channels are great.

I have been paying $25 for 6 months of service for the last 4 years. I just set a reminder to call to "cancel" about a week before that 6 months expires and tell them that I want to renew at my current pricing or I will just cancel the service and use one of the many other options available. They have always renewed both vehicles that I have the service in. Occasionally they will switch you to 5 month for $20-25 deal because "That's what they are offering right now". Never accept the 1 year for $99. That will be the first thing that they try to get you to sign up with.

currently have 14 days until my free trial runs out (since I've had my car, I've received 2-3 trials). Current offer is $25 (plus tax) for 5 months,

If you just got the 5 months for $25 then I would set a reminder a week or so before that 5 months expires and call their customer service and tell them that you want the 6 months for $25. If your wife's service is in a different vehicle, I would go ahead and call to get the 6 month deal. They will credit you for any unused service and take that amount off of the $25 that you are about to pay for the new deal.

Not sure what you mean by packages. They periodically email and call me, trying to get me to sign up for 6mo for $30. I did it once, but I had spotty service in CO and AR. Plus the music on the stations I liked became to repetitive. Pandora/Amazon Music for me now.
Give Slacker Radio a try. It’s like Pandora, with a bigger music catalog and more curated stations. Also has ABC news and ESPN stations. I got rid of XM years ago in favor of pandora, but haven’t listened to pandora in a few weeks since I started Slacker.
Strangely paid slacker doesn’t seem to have the skip limits that Entune enforces on my paid Pandora account either. Stupid Entune.

I guess just a basic package? I never paid attention to what I was getting. I mostly want it for the sports and news talk. Music is ok on XM, but I have all the music I want stored in my phone.

I get one step below their top tier with the $25 6 month plan. I don’t get a few stations that I don’t miss anyway and no internet play. I use amazon prime music for my internet radio at work so it’s not a big deal. Anywhere else, I use Amazon music, pandora or Spotify when streaming from my phone.

I have been using the minimum since 2016 on my 4Runner that was $5.99 but noticed that they upped it to $6.99 that goes to $8.33 after giving the poor poor bands a nice cut. I guess the Bently's gold bumpers got to get polished somehow.
My work vehicle is getting a free sub for now and since I am in it more I was thinking about adding it but now I'm not sure. I only listen to two stations normally. It has a built in hard drive so I might switch to MP3 and say FU to XM.
I guess I'm getting old. I'm kinda fine with no radio lately.
I mostly listen to classic vinyl but they added a female DJ that talks non stop about the rock and roll hall of fame. It's getting to the point that as soon as I hear her voice I change the channel. It's XM there is no need for a DJ. Especially one that can't shut her trap between songs going on and on about the rock and roll hall of fame.

The comedy channels are even worse.
You'll hear maybe 10 minutes of comedy then boom, some damn commercials; the same commercials in every comedy channel and sometimes played at the same time. Sometimes the same comedian and sketches too, for example in a 6-hour span I'll sometimes hear the same Jim Gaffigan sketch on Comedy Central, Roundup, and Laugh USA...he's hilarious but c'mon play some different material!

Yea, the only thing I miss about having XM radio is the vast number of sports radio channels. The music channels repeat themselves too much for my liking.
