XM Reciever Mounting in a 4th Gen, 2004

I am going to get an XM Receiver. I have not chosen one yet but I was thinking of either mounting it in the driver’s side sun visor or in the sunglass holder. Why how no one tried this? I do have the side curtain airbags and wonder if I can get the wires down the A-Pillar. Thoughts anyone?

As far as units I am totally up in the air. I love the Delphi because you can only pay for one receiver and have it in your home and car.

Somebody had posted about this earlier, so if you search you will find a thread on it.

I had seen a guy (and could shoot myself for not having my camera) that had his mounted in the flip part of his consol lid. He had cut the plastic and took out som eof the insides so it would fit perfectly. It was a great idea since you can flip it open to use it, then just shut it back.

The center console mount is pretty trick, though you will need one of the smaller (not as portable) units like a Roady2.

The sunglass holder is an option though it may somewhat block your rearview mirror when lowered which is bad...

I just installed a Sirius unit and haven't permenantly mounted it yet. I had removed the storage cubby door and was going to mount it in that location but it kind of leaves an unfinished look. I didn't want to mount it to far out as it will then block the drink holders.
I think I'm going to modify the storage cubby door, by cutting a hole thru it that to fit a mount. The unit will then sit angled up towards the driver, just in front of the cubby door....

I am going thru this process as well. The sunglass holder I ruled out because it will partially block the rear mirror. The compartment below the HVAC controls look like a good option. And the arm-rest would be the best, but would require some cutting.

I've been keeping my digital camera in my truck and looking for the guy that had the XM mounted in the flip-out. Hopefully I'll come across him again soon.

Sweet because at the rate its going, it will some time before I can actually find a Roady2 in stock somewhere.

I finally saw a Roady2 in Best Buy a couple of weeks ago. I have a Roady and it's portable for me, was in my wife's Probe (replaced with 4Runner), my RAM and work. Currently I'm listening to it at work and when I go home I put it in my truck.

I've been looking at the same locations, minus the sunvisor and sunglass holder. Still haven't fully decided on what I'm going to do, but I miss not having the XM when we travel and around town.

that looks pretty good as well. The guy I saw, here in Birmingham, had the XM mounted in the other half of the flip-out. It was col because when you have your arm resting on the arm rest your hand was right over the controls,
