Yakima Megawarrior Addition to Ride Height

Looking to finally start adding some mods to my 2015 Trail Premium and figured what better place to start than a cargo basket? Specifically, I am wondering if you all could help shed some light on how much adding the basket to my rig (mounted on the factor cross bars) would add to my overall ride height. I believe my 2015 Trail Premium with KDSS and Goodyear Duratracs (stock size) sits 71.5" high and the Megawarrior is 6.5" tall, so, looks like I have a minimum of 2" to work with.

This would be the first time I have owned a cargo basket. Is that 2" listed above accurate? As in, is it a little higher or lower, depending on how Toyota measures the ride height (top of truck, or, top of truck + raise side rails)? I ask because my parking garage at work is 80", so, I don't have a lot of wiggle room.

I really do appreciate any and all help and I am hoping and praying that this basket will work!

The way the basked mounts raises the bottom of the basket a little above the factory crossbars. I'd measure for you but it's on loan right now. I'd factor in 3/4 of an inch to a full inch, in addition to the height of the basket itself.

Roger that and thanks a lot for the quick response. Should I be worried about having a total ride height of 79" in a downtown urban parking garage that is 80"? My gut is saying that is a wee bit too tight.

Yea, I haven't measured myself but from your math it sounds a little close to me. Every vehicle rides a little different too. I don't know what you're using it for but there are other, lower profile baskets on the market. That said, if you have to deal with low garage clearances you may want to consider saving up for a Baja utility rack. There's lots of info if you run a search, but they're very flat and easily accomadate various bike/ski/cargo carriers.

Thanks again for the help. The Baja rack looks awesome, as does the Gobi Stealth, but man, 1,000 bones for those set-ups is a lot of dough. Guess I better start saving my $$$. Too many parking garages around here 80-85" clearances, which is no good. :rant:

Have you looked at the Baja Rack cargo basket? (Not the utility rack) They're about $340, I got 10% off of that at CVT.com. It has a height of 5"versus the 6.5", plus they look better than the Yakimas IMO. If you're looking to shave inches.

Would you happen to have a link for that rack that you are describing at a price anywhere close to that $340 price? I keep coming up with those racks around the net close to $900. :shrug:

They do look awesome, though.
