looks like trouble :thumb:

I am curious, I have only read enough to get myself into trouble, how easy is the locker to install into a 4runner? Will it fit into a stock axle? Is the locker wiring 'plug n play' with a 4runner wiring harness? The 2009 did have a factory locker option on the trail edition.... Is there a wiring harness plugin for the locker switch?

Thanks in advance!

I guess it depends on your definition of easy. As long as you get the right gear ratio it will fit with some fairly minor modification. Some grinding, drilling and tapping. Most people make their wiring harness, but there are a couple places that you can buy a fabbed up harness. You don't use any ecu and there is no factory wiring in place. I think it should be a fairly easy install- just time consuming. I have access to a shop so I can mill out the notches in the axle and drill and power tap it. Now I just have to wait for the switches and stuff to show up so I can get to work on stuff.

nice...I have thought about adding a locker to my 4Runner. If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for it? How did you find it? Are there any specific reasons you chose a toyota locker over an ARB?

I've been looking for awhile, and have seen them from in the three hundreds to up around seven hundred. I was lucky enough to have a friend in the Dakota Territory Cruisers who had one on the shelf that he was planning on using but changed his mind, so I got it, the ecu and factory switch for $375. So, there's reason number one that I chose the retrofit over an ARB. One other thing I like about it is that you can manually lock it if you really need to. With an ARB if you lose a seal or damage your line bad enough you are out of luck, unless you can get you're buddy to hang off the bottom of your 4Runner and blow into the hose for you.

Ive been looking to do this myself but havent been able to find what I need yet. Did this go in a V6 or the awd V8?
