Yet another 1 ton build!

Did some upgrades on the engine.
Texas speed cam, valve springs, pushrods and new valve seals. Need to get some parts painted and round up some parts. Engine is just about done.

The rear door glass only went down with the key. Found the front console switch all gunked up. Took it apart and cleaned the contacts. Fixed.

On my '90 4Runner, the rear window console switch works fine. But the key switch on the tailgate will only lower the window...it won't raise it. Toyota dealer is clueless as to how to fix it.

Do you have any suggestions? I'd love to hear them.

You need to check the green wire with red stripe inside the rear door. That’s your up wire from the key. When you hold the key in the up position that wire should be grounded. If it doesn’t, the wire or switch might be bad.

A little progress. I try to do at least one thing a day.

Got the engine 90% done. Built the new harness and got most of the components on. Still need headers and accessory brackets. Gonna wait until I get the engine in to order some things. Need to measure for room.

I currently have the transmission torn apart to freshen it up and paint it.

I also got a new boat, so a lot of weekend time has been on the water. It’s got a bmw in-line 6 and a rarer than hens teeth bmw z-drive.

Engine looks good. This is going to be a very nice 2nd gen. Mine is gone. Wish I could have had this work done to it. Have fun with the boat.

Well I got the rear suspension cut out and the 14 bolt tacked in. I never knew how soft 63s in a 4runner were! This things gonna ride like a poor mans Cadillac. Need to finish freshing up the transmission, then get those set in to see where its going to live and how much tunnel im going to have to cut.

I also rebuilt the clutch pedal assembly and got that installed.

Looking good. Yea the 63s are really soft back there. Im running the 4leaf pack with a AAL to match the front TG 4" springs. Although I think the front has settled enough I may need to make some changes in the rear now.

Im really interested see more of the motor swap. Ive been tempted to swap to a manual trans behind my 4.3 and ive also been tempted add another number a drop a 5.3 in it lol.

That 450HP V8 would look good in my '92 T4R. Although merging on to the freeway would be much less "sporting".

40s I’ve always ran 40s on my builds. I’m trying to keep it low on 40s, there’s a lot of body carving in the near future.

Some more progress!

Rebuilt the wheel ends with new bearings and seals

built my steering using a sky off-road billet pitman arm and 1-ton tie rod ends on the drag link and tie rod. Built the tubes out of 1.5” OD .250” wall dom with ballistic fab tube adapters.

Got the disc brake conversion going using sky off-roads caliper brackets and 3/4ton Chevy rotors and calipers. Now if I want I can run 15s on a Dana 60.

The picture where it’s raked to the rear is gonna be about ride height on 40s. I currently have trail gear 5” up front and a 3 pack of 63s in the rear. I’m gonna wait until I have the drivetrain in place and tires to see how I’m gonna change the height. I’m about 3” off front to rear. I’m thinking about 4” trail gears up front and a flat 1” block in the rear. *

Tires should be here next week, rear axle is coming out over break to shave the diff, things are coming together ever so slowly...

So I got the transmission to the shop to be freshened up.

Got the shave kit for the rear axle installed and front diff cover painted and installed.

Front hubs, rear pinion guard, and some clutch parts show up today.

Cool build! And some really nice work going on here!

I really like the low height of your Chevy 63s. This is my plan for the rear of my upcoming slow build. How much lift did you get from them? Do you have any pics of how you set up the mounts and stuff? Hope you don't mind me picking your brain a little, just over here doing some research...:baby:
