Ok guys, I am a new 4Runner owner. 5 days in. I can't leave it alone like anything I own. So I am upgrading some lighting. I will do interior lights soon, but I have ordered my HIDs. (I am also going to do the fog light mod when these come in)

Low beams - 6000K
Fogs - 3000k

I got them from Kryptonbulbs.com. I have used this company in the past for my motorcycle headlights and love them. Plus it was a whole $103 for both headlights and foglights. Just curious if anyone else has used this company.

The warranty is a lifetime warranty if i remember. I had a bad bulb on my first order and he just asked for a picture of the blemished area and sent me another one right out. Great customer service. That was about a year ago though.

"HID Kit Includes: 2 AC Digital Slim HID Ballasts, 2 AC HID bulbs, 2 ballast mounting plates with hardware, Instruction booklet, and all appropriate wiring harnesses."

Like I said, I have these in my motorcycle and are great. Especially for the price. $50 for a kit and $53.50 for the 3000k yellow one. I see people paying more for one kit than I did for both of mine.
 
I looked up my past order. I have had the others since June 2011 without any problems. I think they are a good deal. I will post pictures once I get them in and installed.
 
it is not very long on the ones on my bike. 20-30 seconds for full brightness. I have never times it honestly. Those kits you linked look to be made very well. but still these come with lifetime warranty and 2 kits costs less than one of those. When they come in I will post pictures of them for comparison.

I would imagine that your kit is very similar to the DDM type of kit. I know DDM offers a lifetime warranty because their stuff is so cheap that they couldn't care less if they need to send out new ones for their "lifetime warranty." 20-30 seconds for full brightness seems quite long to me as well. I'm not going to sit and bash the product that I've never seen or used but I strongly believe "you get what you pay for."

The TRS kits at ~$130 (for a basis PnP kit) are going to be the cats ass aside from OEM Kioto ballasts. Plus for us "offroaders" the TRS ballasts are more weather sealed than even the OEM units, warm up time is like 1-2 seconds longer than OEM (not much..) and their large size dissipates the heat better than a "slim" ballast will.

Either way OP, please post pics of your setup when it arrives so us on-lookers have some good pics of another HID product. Thanks!

I found these from people on my motorcycle forum, gsxr.com where I have been a member for years. A lot of people used the DDM for a long time but found that the quality was lacking and this was an alternative some people suggested. I def will get you guys some pics.

I keep a stock of relays around for random things. So this is not really an issue for me. I actually dont run relays on my bike and dont have any issues with it. It also specifically says on their site the 35W bulbs pull less energy than stock bulbs and dont recommend a harness on this kit only the 55W. I am not saying I wont run relays, just what the site states.

Understood, just saying, I had serious electrical issues with my 03 when I had HID's with no relay harness. Run one in my 08 and have had zero issues
 
PLEASE retrofit projectors into the housing to avoid blinding everyone on the road. Running HIDs in an open housing is not only unsafe, but illegal.

I am pretty sure any HID in a car that doesn't come factory is illegal. Also, don't know if this was directed at me but my low beams are factory projectors.
 
It was directed at you. I wasn't aware you already had projectors. I have a 3rd gen with open housing and I'm tired of seeing that glare from aftermarket hids in open housings.
 
OP: let us know how long your kit last. Your correct about DDM, almost everyone complains about their quality (crap). If you've been on other forums, you'll know that getting your stuff from the retrofit source is the way to go. That's means spending money.

Retrofitting or stuffing them in a reflector is illegal. Retrofitting shouldn't be (providing you use the right projector).

I have their kit in my motorcycle since June 2011 and they still work. I will say the retrofit source ones look good.
