Your Average MPG

computer claims 18.2ish after i reset it when i first got it 2 months ago so its all my drivng but i calculated the last two tanks to 17.4 with premium seeing if i get a major difference between that an regular but i dont think it does so far so back to the cheap stuff.

so all in all i need an intake and exhaust soon so see where that goes

I recently repeated the same stretch of Interstate 5 from the Bay Area up toward Oregon. 23 MPG this time.
(Oregon gas is 10% Ethanol) CA Shell isn't

Mine says 16.9? I know she's off. I have a V6 with 47k just put in CAI, NGK Iridiums, changed fluids in Front and Rear Diff and Tranfser Case. I guess my system needs more time to adjust to all the changes. I'd really like to see those numbers go up! It seems seems my numbers went down after all that work which dont make no sense?

I get 34.9 MPG. The key is you have to drive downhill in fifth gear ALWAYS.:


My average is 15.1 MPG 100% city. My commute is 4 miles, all hills.

So is anyone seeing a difference in milege when in 2 wheel drive vs 4 wheel drive? I ask because the owners manual on my 08 says somrthing about the best performance is in 4 wheel drive.

Driving from Green River, Utah to Denver, Colorado (350 miles), I got a calculated 22.6mpg. Computer showed 25.1mpg. Speed was between 60 and 80 mph going up and down several mountain passes. Pretty damn good I think as I had 2 passengers plus several hundred pounds of gear along for the ride.

That is pretty good MPG IMO.

I get about 19.7 commuting. 12 miles each way city and interstate driving. I towed a sport bike to Deal's Gap (about 300 miles away) and it dropped to 19.5.

I reset the MPG and I have been getting 22.9 since 8 Jun. 3 days.

Most of my driving during the week is appx 33 miles daily at about 28 MPH. It gets slightly better on long highway drives...

Anyone else get this good w/ the V6? My V8 will do 17 cruisin' at 76...If I knew the V6 REALLY got 22 mpg w/ inconsistant driving conditions like that I might trade today. I read the occasional high MPG, but can't tell who's exagerating and wheather the V6 will really do that good. I'm not calling anyone out here, just trying to verify true MPG and to see if other's are getting that good. Thanks

hope this doesnt turn into another v6 vs v8 debate, IMO, driving habits play a big role in MPG no matter which engine a person has.

Are we working in Imperial or US mpg here? Because I get 15 us mpg which is about 18 imperial.

I get 22-23 consistently on majority highway tanks driving to the mountains in western North Carolina.

Best I've ever done for a tank is almost 24 MPG driving south from Atlanta to Jacksonville with 4 people and tailgating gear in the truck to see the Gator Bowl going 75-80 the whole way.

I do about 70% city 30% highway. Since summer hit I have been at about 14 mpg. Highway I get about 16-17 mpg. I have seen up to 21 mpg highway on a long trip. I did notice the tech put 10w-30 in my truck on my last oil change so that may have something to do with the little drop in mpg...

I filled up in Green River, reset the odometer, drove the nearly 300 miles and then filled up again. Some fairly steep climbs going up but also get to basically coast going down the mountain passes. Computer showed about 10% higher than actual. My V8 Grand Cherokee averaged between 17 and 18 mpg with 70% highway. I think the 4R is a better all around vehicle.
