You can buy car stereos on ebay using Android tablets for the display and I was considering one but the tablets get very poor reviews in general so it's hard to tell how well they might work. This looks like a better option than having one permanently installed but wouldn't fiddling with a tablet while you drive be even worse than texting on a phone?

My question with all of these type of mods ala iPad, is what happens when there is no signal? All those nifty programs that require a digital network wont work. And for Navigation, if you have GPS at least it will get you there but the map wont refresh as it requires a network.

Now don't get me wrong, I would love to use an iPad for my head unit as it is super trick. But as of now i am thinking of getting a touch screen in dash unit once I start my interior modding.
