I highly recommend getting them in the offset flavor. I go to my friend's shop quite often to wrench on my 4Runner and his offset wrenches have saved my bacon more times than I can count. Especially the ratcheting ones. Those things are slick.
His are Snap On, but I imagine you can get something that'll work just fine for much cheaper.

This has been my go to light for engine and interior work for the last two months. Bright as hell with 410 lumens and a 20lb magnet. It is also thin, so one can drop it down in tight areas. I'll take a pic and post it later of it in action.

Milwaukee M12 3/8" dr cordless ratchet, surprisingly use it a lot. Like the fact that youcan use it manually as well to loosen bolts/nuts initially.
Edit: I also love my gearwrench standard crowsfoot sockets for hard to reach hydraulic lines on the equipment we work on, life saver for those *****in' lines you cant reach

ound:Good find, I have large tap and die sets but for most work / general quick cleanup, this set is perfect. Adding to my list.
That is a nice set I own that one and the bigger size one as well for spindles and larger diameter threads.... Side note... Matco and SnapOn sell the same kit just rebranded for twice as much as it's worth.

i have that same kit, from snap-on.
how much is that kit from non tool trucks? I think I paid about $135 for mine from snap-on, which I thought was a pretty good deal. I use it a LOT.

So not specifically automotive, but useful for EVERYTHING. I know, not quite the purpose of this thread, but who said 'multi-tools' don't work? (all Harbor Freight, but hey)

Turns any drill into ratchet.
and this:
1/2 in. Heavy Duty D-Handle Variable Speed Reversible Drill
The torque on this thing will near sprain your wrist just pulling the trigger 'dry'. Good for drilling out rusty screws and bolts, wire brushes, buffing pads, stirring paint, etc. Super effing heavy duty. For $42. I've had mine for 3 years and worked it for 20+ minutes straight at times and it's still just as powerful.
Also, a good clampable workbench like this:
Folding Clamping Workbench with Movable Pegs
Also a can of WD-40. Most every screw, bolt, hose, clamp, etc, gets a spritz before working on it.
Also makes SPECTACULAR hand cleaner. A small spritz in the palm, lather up, rinse off with the water hose, and then shop towel dry. A hell of a lot better than any soap I've ever used. Even cleans under the nails well.
Make sure to use the HF 20% off coupon, and get something free with each purchase as well. I usually get the multimeter or 6 piece magnetic screwdriver set. I have maybe 5 of each now.

That's the company that actually makes them and makes them for other tool companies. Just be careful when buying stuff from tool trucks because a lot of those tools are not made by SnapOn or Matco or Mac and can be found for half the price.

Great deal on a nice set. 32pc long and stubby gear wrench set for about $105 shipped. Sears has this set on sale locally for $99 but you would pay tax so it virtually equals the same price. Large plastic tray works great in a toolbox to keep things organized.

Maybe they already make one? I have a set of open end box wrenches like this - very handy.

Through experience Gearwrench made in Taiwan lasts long and performs well. I have some GW Taiwan wrenches a decade old and still working well. Those made in the PRC has me on a first name basis with my local Fastenal dealer for warranty work.
The light in action, the Astro Pneumatic 40SL. The only downside other than the over $50+ price tag is that while it does last 2 1/2 hours on a full charge is that it takes 4 hours to recharge. IMHO worth every penny though.....

A cheap and very nice set of through hole wrenches. Same quality as the old harbor freight set that had a single ratchet. The part that seals the deal on these is the handle. It is curved and you can flip it over and get into more places. Best of all, on sale for $39.99! MUST buy at this price!

They (Sears) did for me but it took some time and convincing. They had the smaller 40pc set on the shelf and I kept suggesting that they give me the replacement out of that set and then they could sell the set with the missing piece in the clearance section. They finally agreed and what do you know, that set was in the clearance section a few weeks later. I was waiting for the price to drop more and someone else snagged it.

SK is good stuff, though IMHO their products were better before being taken over by Ideal.
