Your thoughts on these two trucks?

what im saying is have you yet seen a thread when someones regular non xreas shocks have started leaking and had to be replaced? no and if there is one i am willing to bet that there is over 110k miles on the vehicle. i hear of xreas going out at 60k miles and its a common occurance. sure it costs the same to replace if you replace with reg shocks but you wont have to worry about replacing it for awhile at least by going with a non xreas 4runner.

buyin a 4runner with xreas is like buying a jeep grand cherokee with 250k miles on it... its bound to break very soon and you could have bought a toyota aka non xreas

A guy I work with has a 2006 SE V8. He makes the same commute I do, has taken the 4Runner places where full-size trucks couldn't go without getting stuck, and tows quads long distances to races quite often. He has 150,000+ miles on it and has had no problems - he bought it new though. I will be putting a ton of miles on this truck and will probably end up changing the suspension or lifting it eventually. The white one is still looking pretty good to me as long as it is in good mechanical condition and the shocks look exceptionally good.

I've done a lot of searching on dealer sites and other used car sites and haven't found many that fit my criteria and budget. If I don't get this one, it leaves me with the CPO black one, CPO shadow mica one from New Jersey w/o Nav, or a galactic gray one from south of Salt Lake at a Honda dealer w/o nav. I've never looked at CPO before so I'm wondering if CPO is really worth it on something with 60-65k miles? The non-CPO in Utah is actually a pretty good looking deal for $25,000. (CARFAX Vehicle History Report on JTEBT17R560064131)

Non-nav may be the way to go. My current car (2003 Accord) has a SQ setup with a Pioneer HU with aftermarket speakers running on a 4x100 analong amp and 2 10's running on a 1x600 digital amp. Would I be happy with the sound quality coming out of the OEM nav unit with aftermarket speakers and amps?

so he is an xreas??? great for him!! thats the first over the 150 mark the next highest and still going strong i know of is like 90k miles. hmmmm

Then if it all looks good and you still want it, tell them you will give them 25K and not a dime more. Their sale price is the "normal" price and Groove plays games. The internet guy is Lee and he is good at games.

Hmm...may just avoid Groove then. I had a bad experience buying my last car from a supposedly great small local used car place here in GJ. I didn't like buying cars in the first place and now I hate it.

That really is a gross overstatement. The only difference between an XREAS 4Runner and a non-XREAS 4Runner is the XREAS. And it is relatively cheap and easy to replace the XREAS system with regular shocks if you don't like it or if it breaks.

If you are going to significantly lift a non-XREAS 4Runner, you are going to replace the shocks. If you are going to significantly lift an XREAS 4Runner, you are going to replace the shocks. No real difference there.

Not a bad thing as long as you get the price you want. Just watch Lee- he is a mental-game artist. I caught that early on and basically told him (very nicely) I'd do this on my terms; not his...my price; not his. He's a good Closer too so watch that. Groove seems to buy 4Rs from auctions all over and then resell them. Every other (and bigger) dealer here (Groove is small) only sell what they receive as trade-ins. I think Stevinson Lexus of Frederick (on I-25) may have a XREAS 2004 V8 4R Sport with 65K miles (silver in color) they traded on some Lexus SUV. They want around 18K though the price listed is 20K (sales guy is Dennis- he mentioned $18,400 to me. http://www.stevinsonlexusoffrederick.com/VehicleDetails/767680773



GO Toyota also has a few, though I'm not up on their inventory. Keep an eye on those types of places.

Sorry, but I'm really tired of folks who don't have any direct experience with XREAS suggesting it is a disaster waiting to happen. It isn't, and, IMHO, a lot of people are giving bad advice about it.

its my opinion.... great if yours lasts a million miles but until i see proof they are solid suspension systems that last a long time i aint gonna recommend them, in fact im going to tell someone to steer clear of them since there are so many occasions where ppls xreas 4runners suspension gives out at 60k miles. sorry thats the fact, your a one off person cause i havent heard of them going that far. good for you, i wish they would all last a long time becuase i have driven an xreas 4runner and taken turns faster then i would and it is a pretty sweet handling machine.

Yup, that's your opinion. My opinion, based on owning one, is that it is plenty reliable.

I've replaced regular shocks on vehicles at 60,000 miles, too. Stuff happens.
