Yup, another "best tire" question......

Looking around & using the search feature, I can't seem to get a straight answer, what is the best, all around tire for my '06 4runner?
What I mean by all around is one that is quiet, lasting, good in rain and good in snow, the ones I have seen are either good in everything but snow, or great in snow, but have a lot of road noise etc. Is there a great all around tire out there?

I think for the price, you can't go wrong with the Terra Grappler from Nitto. I'm running 265/70r17 on mine and I've beat on them for the first month or so, driven like a lunatic trying to slide but I can't. I've been in rain, some snow/sleet/icy mix (gotta love NJ) and dirt/mud. No heavy snow yet, but I don't see it being a problem. Also, they are VERY quiet, I feel like my bridgestone HT tires were louder on the highway.

For $620 shipped to my door for the set, I don't regret my decision at all.

Have also heard great things about Toyo AT2's and BFG Rugged Terrains. Any of those 3 will make your truck look more like a truck really, but not too extreme. They would be a good all around tires

Michelins I'm sure are great, as are BFG AT and Duratracs, but I wasn't in the $220+ per tire price range

The A/T's are i have the rugged terrains 265/65/17 they are barley noticeable at highway speeds, plus they have a great all terrain look with road tire manors.

I had them on my Nissan Frontier before my 4runner, and they were great tires! very responsive, and I never heard a peep out of them (and that frontier was nowhere near as solid as the 4runner)
Also, have seen them work in deep mud and go straight to pavement for 7 hours when [MENTION=72620]A_HuL[/MENTION] and I took a trip to Louisiana. He loves them, and I was very impressed with them offroad.
 
Yeah like jay said BFG AT are good tires when people say they are loud to me that is dumb a mud grappler is loud, these have a slight noise depending on the size I love em great grip and great highway ride. Rides like a street tire with an aggressive look
 
Nokian WRG2 SUV hands down. I liked the performance of these tires so much I just put a second set on last week. The first set lasted 50k miles, with regular rotations, and were a night & day difference from the Dueler 840HTs that came with the truck. (Hated the Duelers on anything other than dry pavement, and even then they weren't that great.)

I live in New England and wanted a tire that is quiet enough I could run year round with an honest mud & snow rating so I wouldn't have to swap rims & tires for the winter. These were suggested by my local shop and I haven't been disappointed at all.

Just put a set of the Michelin LTX M/S2's on my truck. Why? They were top rated in the latest Consumer Reports All Seasons Truck tire ratings. Also, at both Discount Tire and NTB they recommended this tire as the best choice for my truck. That's plenty of recommendations from people who know a lot about tires.

The tires were expensive. Just over 1000 bucks installed. But the upgrade in ride and handling compared to the OEM Duelers is just plain amazing.

They cost about 200 bucks more than the mid tier tires I was looking at so I just thought about all the times I have wasted 200 bucks on eating out or drinking with my friends and just spent the money on my truck instead.

They will outlast other tires also so that $200 in the long run is money saved. People get excited when an AT tire lasts 50-65k miles. Actually I would be ticked if that's all they lasted. Every Michelin I have had has gone well beyond that.
 
After doing a great deal of research on here, I just put on a set of Toyo Open Country AT II tires. I have only had them on for a week but I love the way they look and handle. My T4R will mostly see pavement so I wanted a tire that looked aggressive but one that would be quiet and have a good tread life. I hope to get 50K plus out of them.
