Zero Point Calibration for 2006+ (service manual)

So, I had a rough time finding info for how to zero point calibrate my 2006 4Runner. The ol' "jump pins 4 and 14 and tap 4 times" method didn't work for me.

Thanks to a friend, I finally got it right.

To clear the calibration, jump pins 4 and 12 four times, turn the ignition off. Then, jump/connect the pins and hold, turn the ignition on. The VSC TRAC light should be blinking quickly. Let blink for at least 2 seconds. Turn ignition off and remove the pins/jumper/SST.View attachment 038003.pdf

I'm actually dealing with this right now. Thanks for the info and the PDF. By the way, speaking of PDFs, I was recently recommended a free online converter pdffly.com/heic-to-pdf that also includes a wide range of useful built-in features. I mention it because after trying out so many different tools, I've finally found one that truly meets my everyday needs - and the fact that it works online makes it even better.

I recently had the same problem with my 2004 4Runner after using a basic scanner to clear a check engine light evap error. The scanner I had didn’t have any functionality to recalibrate the zero point. So I bought a more expensive bidirectional scanner from XTool. After a fiasco of issues including multiple confusing software versions with different password rules I was never able to access a menu option in the scanner to perform a zero point recalibration. Ended up returning that scanner.

I finally decided to do the manual reset process, but didn’t like the idea of sticking paper clips into an ODB port I could barely see. I bought a $25 ODB Breakout Box off Amazon that worked like a charm. The box is designed to allow you connect diagnostic devices like a multi-tester or oscilloscope to the ODB pins, using the box with a simple 4mm banana connector cable worked like a charm to do a manual reset jumping the necessary pins.
