Zonarunner SAS build thread

overdue update

Hi, I'm Greg and i will be taking over the build from here on out. Might start a new thread with the future updates but for now i will just show the finished product. We finished the front and rear bumpers and put the sliders on and got everything painted. Slapped in some solid rear links(i forget the brand). Also installed a factory e-locker and some non bro wheels. The thing does pretty well for an ifs rig.

Brad(zona) is off playing in the sandbox and left me with his rig and a small pile of cash. Hoping to get a few sponsors for the build but i will be doing most of the fab work on putting tons under this thing and doing a tummy tuck(raising tank t-case), coil overs, and a few other things. That's me and my zj on dana 60s and 37s. It's a beater but it goes anywhere its pointed.

Also i saw a white 4runner of the same generation while coming back from hunting plastered with T4R.org stickers so if you are reading this then hello.

Ps. All of the ifs and rear stuff will be for sale soon.

Lol, sweet ass build! Just for clarification, Brad, or Zona, has his Toytec Boss adjustable coil - overs to its max setting? Any stiffer of a ride? I'm running this same setup minus the extra body lift, and am looking to maximize my front end to level out the lift better

Yes it is the boss setup. I don't think he ever did max out the front though sorry. I'm pretty sure he left them at the set height from toyotech.

A word of caution though, get limiting straps installed. We have broke both front coil overs and i believe that this is a main cause. Shout out to Toyotech for replacing both of them past the warranty period. But even though they replaced them it was a pretty sketchy ride off of the trail.

3" lift

Nice build, and the skills to do it too. Really like it. 3" for me would be to much but i dont go off road like some of those pics. Keep on keepin on.

more wheeling pics since completion

Figured i would add these up for your viewing pleasure.

Some pucker factor pics and 1st wheeling trip out with my jeep on 33s and stock axles.

Build looks great man! Love the bumpers,, I like the way the rear came out with the tube nice and simple, probably super light ! I'm contemplating building my own as well, kind of a hybrid with tube and some plate. What size are those tires your currently running? Also how is the E locker set up working out? I just picked up a FJ E locker 3rd member that i'm getting ready to instal soon.

Its pretty light, but it may get reworked soon. He wants to add some plate for the sides. The tires are 35 12.5 17s. But they still rub the body mounts with as much of it cut away as possible. If the wheels had less backspacing they might not as the scrub radius would be tighter. The locker has worked out good but has the bearing noise that is common in land cruisers. Install was fairly simple.

Nice! I definitely plan on doing mixture of both tube and plate. I'm still not 100% certain i want to build it myself being that i'm kind of new to welding and don't know how confident i am on my fabrication skillz yet haha. I might just order the 4x4 labs DIY kit since i love that bumper and everything is prey cut and ready to be welded up! Damn those tires a pretty wide they look beefy and by that i mean awesome! It's such a PITA what we have to do to run 35's on these trucks. I plan on up sizing to 315/70/17s and my current tires wear down so i know i'm going to have to start prepping by doing a BMC and hammering the crap out of the pinch welds! I'm probably going to have to do a tad bit more work because i'm only going to be running a 1" BL since i don't really feel like modifying and moving up my bumper and sliders! I will probably have to remove my wheel spacer as well. Nice, I picked up my FJ 3rd member off ebay with bad pinion bearing. I had it rebuilt along with 4.56s so i will be swapping the front clamshell along with doing the FJ e locker retro fit soon! I looked at a couple good write ups on it, it's doesn't look to bad. Plus my buddy just retro fitted his this past year so he's going to be helping me do the instal. Can't wait to it in and wired up along with the new gears!

How many post do i need to start a new build thread for this thing? I picked up axles and metal today to start making this thing legit.
