What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Yesterday I installed a fuse block and breaker I probably don't really need on a Scarab tray and moved a few wires off the battery to it. One day, more wired accessories will justify it I hope. Then I cut, painted, and bolted a piece of plywood to my roof rack and sat up there on a folding chair. Weather was 68 degrees all day and made me happy that I didn't go to Palm Springs for a swelter-fest with the wife and kids (not really a sitting-by-a-pool guy).

Nice, I'm probably going to do something similar and get a 6 gang switch. I'm getting too many relays crowding around my battery and I'm going to be installing a winch once my 4xI bumper comes in so I really want to preemptively clean things before I add more lights/accessories.

Installed ARB Safari Snorkel a couple days ago using one of yota tech guides. Currently don’t have a build thread since I don’t have enough posts and replies so figured I’d start here. Been using this forum for a few years now without posting anything since everything has already been discussed and just a little digging will get you all the answers you’re looking for.

Supercharger install this weekend after a long time coming!! While i was in there i replaced valve cover gaskets, plugs and wires, and 170 degree thermostat

Few years ago I got tired of the factory leather wheel because it was worn out on top and sticky feeling so I put on a early 2000s Sienna van plastic/rubber steering wheel. Well the top of that is now starting to crack and weather a little bit so I decided to leather wrap this one. Now I just need to find the original black airbag to go back on

I re-installed the LC 7.5 Wrap coils in the back.The 891s were fine with the sagging TRD Tundra springs, but not enough lift with the new Eibach Pro-Truck coilovers.

I bought some Mevotech Supreme 2nd Gen T4R rear End Links for the front and installed those today as well. I had a different brand in there previously, but one of those broke and I put the spare stock front end links I had back in temporarily. That 1" of extra link length makes a bigger difference than you'd think. It softens up the front end quite bit, but still holds a nice line through the corners.

As for the rear coils, they give me too much lift without also needing 100 lbs of sand bags back there. I'm probably gonna get a set of Toytec 9602RC-P coils. The non-HD version.

Already have gussets welded on. Split the ring around the UBJ.

IF it's still there/still whole, it happened in an area well away from major civilization and a huge hot spot for stealing/chopping vehicles. Thankfully DeathCougar is located on my drive back and was willing to meet me after dark so I was able to pick up a knuckle.

Just had that happen to me recently on the way to Austin and hit 3 small road bumps. Split the ring around the UBJ. Expensive fix.

Took a good bite out of the strut tower, but thankfully that saved it from taking out my brake line
Judging by the rust inside the crack, it's been split for some time and been waiting to give. Scary stuff
Both CV boots survived, even the outer boot that got popped off and twisted up. So long story short now I'm sold on OEM boots lol

Purchased it on Friday. Didn’t look as hard as I should have before I bought it. But it is in good shape.

Still I don’t want to lose the frame. I was warned. So I took a wire brush to the key areas. Sprayed some lubricant (blaster) over the entire frame.

Let that sit for a day or two and get under there with a pressure washer is the plan.

Dang! You gonna cut off the strut tower and weld on a new one? Or, just patch it up? Is the spindle you got new or used?

I would also get some rust reformer to convert the surface rust and then paint it with a good chassis paint. I'd also use a wire brush to knock down the bigger chunks that are on the surface.

I'm sure others who live in the rust belt will have better advice. Good luck, hope it's just surface rust. It doesn't look too bad to me.

Used. Just gonna clean it up and patch it, i don't think new towers are available from toyota like the rear shock mounts
If anyone knows where to get that brake line bracket though that'd be very helpful

Well that's terrifying. I'm glad you both made it through that. I hope you get it put back together quick.

I wonder if that's going to be a more common sight as our 4Runners get older. Any thoughts on a preventative fix?

Just about took all weekend but washed, clay barred, cutting compound, polishing compound, wax. Did a "lithium cube ceramic" coating on nearly all trim. I am going to be painting a few bits. Paint looks great. All swirls are gone. Most scratches are gone. Still have some bigger ones. And made it easier to find dents. I am going to try paintless dent removal next.

Trying to decide if I want to paint my fender flares black. They have by far the most paint damage. Too much for touch up paint.

I'll get a picture later, i finished the wax at like 8:00 PM and it doesn't really show up well in the garage.
