one of the best updates I did to the 4runner !
did the 7k mile oil change yesterday and it went very smooth. I replaced a push nut for the trd skid plate that broke off a few years ago. The bolts for the skids plate went in without issue , sometimes i had to clear the debris out. I did put some anti seize on them too.

smart move right there. not swapping over to the aftermarket housings with the fancy looking DRLs. and it's cheaper! plus I think it keeps it more in line with the mentality of the 4runner: no BS, just what you need to be a good, reliable vehicle.

I had convinced myself I was going to need new tires with the lift and was putting off the extra investment. The more I drive it and see it in the driveway the more I'm crushing on the "prerunner" stance as-is, super happy with the set up.
Installed Diode Dynamics Stage Series Flush Mount Reverse Lights in pods I designed and 3-D printed. Due to the shape of the 4R rear bumper, flush-mounting these lights puts them at an angle that didn't result in the intensity directly behind the vehicle I was looking for. (Yeah, they're pretty floody, and flush-mounted in the bumper is probably sufficient for any sane person, but I wondered if I could get them to point straight back.) They look a little silly--I may downsize the "loft" off the bumper so they're not so prominent--but they now send light straight back. (Fun project, but dang hard to match all the curves in the stupid bumper!)

Heated yes. My 2017 doesn't have BSM so I can't speak to that, although it did have what looked like another electrical connection with tape over it. I'd assume if you look up a Rav4 with BSM they would work.

Short answer:
Both, by using the NO and NC poles of a relay.
Long answer:
All four reverse lights (the two DD SS 12" light bars in the roof rack and the flush-mount SSC2 lights in the bumper) are fed from a relay. The lights are on the common pole of the relay. The normally-open pole is fed with +12V from a Blue Sea distribution block. The relay coil +12V (the "trigger") comes from a tap of the vehicle's reverse light circuit. Put vehicle in reverse, relay toggles, all the lights come on.
The normally-closed pole of the relay is connected to +12V via a SwitchPro switch. I can hit the SwitchPro button any time and all the lights (except the vehicle's own reverse lights) come on.
Yes, a more elegant method would have been to just run an additional relay trigger to the SwitchPro, and put a diode inline with the reverse wire trigger.
I didn't have any diodes on hand, but I did have an unused high-current feed already pulled to the D pillar, so I slapped a terminal on it and left it at that.
Here are the other reverse lights. As you can see, I can't have any lights sticking up on the rack (they hit the long roof box), so I milled out the existing holes in the RCI rear fairing, designed and fabricated some brackets, and sorta frenched the lights into the fairing. Works good, but it creates a giant spoiler-shaped shadow out to about 15' behind the 4R! (Hence the motivation for the bumper-mounted SSC2 lights--they fill in that void nicely.

Survival emergency rope, small kindling splitter, mini pry tip, glass break point. The 12’ rope makes a good grip, use the rope for tie downs, shelter cord, etc.. hang on a tree around the campfire when not using. Throw in the gear box.

Took the TRD Pro off road on some muddy logging trails and even with the crummy stock tires - it was AWESOME. Definitely looks better with mud splatter paint job.

Replaced the lift gate latch and actuator assembly on the 2014 SR5 which has 350K miles. Latch assembly was rusted and getting stiff, then the actuator itself finally went out. Replaced it with a Chinese Knock Off by Himiki for $52 off Amazon. Guys are asking $120 for used, rusted OEM units on eBay, but why buy someone else’s problem? Once installed, the Himiki unit works just fine. Pretty straightforward job.

Hey everyone….new to the 4R world. Sold my dream on Saturday for something a little more family/road trip friendly. Wife said my 2012 Jeep with 1 ton axles, 4.5” long arm suspension with Coilovers topped off with an LS3 motor swap which I’d been building since I bought it new wasn’t good for family trips. ALTHOUGH I WON’T ADMIT THIS TO HER….she wasn’t wrong. It averaged 9.5 mpg on 93 octane and to hold a conversation on the highway you had to basically scream.
Fast forward I purchased a new to me 2021 Venture… with the TRD package??? I’m wanting to keep this family friendly even though I ride my motorcycle mostly everywhere unless there’s heavy rain or ice/snow. BUT after less than 2 days I’ve started a list *. I don’t like the brake dip or the rake and am looking for a leveling kit which will keep the comfortable ride but give that nice stance. Any help would be much appreciated.
Still sad about parting with my mistress but I will say I enjoy being able to talk with my daughter in the back seat while cruising down the highway.

I truly feel for you.
I still have my JKUR and my wife drives our 4Runner and I will say I having both has been nice, although both are still thirsty.
You'll like the 4Runner more with a couple of modifications, just as you've wrote. The brake dive and roll are absolutely terrible stock.
A cost-effective set of Bilstein 5100s all around with the front set to 0.85" (i think its like the second notch) will help with the rake and EXTREMELY help with nose dive and roll. It makes the suspension stiffer but not at all rattling.
I went a little higher, maintained most of the rake with 1.75" in the front and 1.5" spring spacers in the rear. Search Bilstein lifts here and you'll find a LOT.
Changed the OEM tires to stock sized BFG KO2s and have been quite happy.
Those two mods made the 4Runner look and feel just right, IMO.
There are a thousand of other mods you can do but if you want to keep it light, Bilstein shocks and ATs are perfect.
