What are steering wheel swap options that look good and function?

I am getting ready to hit the yard to look for some Toyota or Lexus steering wheels in black to replace my 4 spoke black one in my 01 which has worn a holt in the 12:00 position on the wheel, The cruise stalk would have to bolt right in or come very close to fitting with minimal mods to it.

Open to suggestions.

I have been considering swapping steering wheels for a while...the following are my personal recommendations, and one of them will make its way into my truck sooner or later.

-93-98 Supra
-Lexus IS300
-Toyota Altezza (Japanese market only)
-Early 2000s Corolla / Celica / MR2

All of these are a bit smaller than the stock wheel, and they are all 3 spoke and have sport grip extensions (the small humps at 10 and 2), which I love.

I believe that the Lexus ES (GS and LS may work, too) wheels fit with little or no modification as well if you prefer a leather/wood combo.
 
90's-early 2000's Camrys should fit your stock airbag,same with 98-2001 LS400 if you want wood trim. If the ones you're looking at come equipped with an airbag you may need to rewire it,but there are plug-and-play adapter harnesses available for around $20.

93-97 Supra steering wheels are 4-spoke,98's came with the nice 3-spoke. This applies to US models,I'm not sure about pre-98 JDM ones.

Some of the wheels listed don't have openings for cruise control. I bought a 3-spoke red stitch wheel destined for my Supra,tempted to install on the 4Runner but I don't want to cut a hole for cruise.
 
I think I have a stock wheel around somewhere from my supra tt so I will try to locate it and see how it looks, Thanks for the ideas!

That would be me. It's a 01 Lexus ES300 wheel/bag. I first bought the wheel went home excited to install my new wheel. Wrong, mounts on bag didn't line up. Tried to make it work for 2hr. Finally went back for the bag and took me 15min to install. Plug and play.

Sorry to mess with an old thread. New to this forum.
Can anyone confirm that a 97-01 Camry wheel is an exact bolt on replacement for the 4Runner? I’ve got a lead on a brand new OEM replacement for a Camry Wheel!

This mabe far out, I did a 2019 Hilux Steering wheel swap on my 3rd gen. I'd like to have working steering wheel controls

Now THAT'S different
Is it even possible to get the steering controls to work? Seeing as 5th gens have a CAN bus system, or at least I very heavily assume they do. But I'm no electrician :shrug:

You wouldn't be able to get them to work with the OEM cruise control - but stereo controls might work with an aftermarket stereo with an adapter/interface module. You will need to get a higher pin-count spiral cable to make it work (I think the ES300 one works?).

I swapped in a 2001 Corolla S steering wheel to my '99 SR5. Was completely plug and play. The cruise control and airbag plugs clicked in without an issue. Huge benefit of the three spoke wheels is no longer accidentally honking when making super wide one handed turns haha

Thank you for this! I was looking for a wheel that would be 100% plug and play.
